#SWADE Weblate
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Montver wants to be able to import the translations that he maintains as a module to Weblate, so they became part of the system and more people can work on them from the web interface:
They are four languajes and json files: ast.json, cat.json, es.json, eu.json and gl.json.
The most important (in number of users) is es.json that host the translation to Spanish.
Currently the module translates into Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque.
So he is asking you (if you are the Weblate mantainer) to add the languages.
There is also an ast.json that is likely Asturian.
Can't you do it yourself? I didn't have to add the Portugese translation either.
Looks like spanish is already added as a language, just has no translation strings.
Hummmm... I suppose that it all depends on how is weblate configured.
Letting any user add a language is probably not the wisest thing, but...
Let me try.
the idea was to be able to transfer everything translated so as not to repeat the work done by the community.
That is also all about permissions...
JDW configured it, I'm not sure I can change much in the repository
It's technically his weblate instance after all, as you know
I know, but you are probably the manager and you have all the permissions enabled.
I'm getting a Permission Denied when trying to upload the file.
I just set it to protected lol
wanted to ask for your wbelate names so I can add you
Better add Montver (escaqueando vilmente) 😉
@hot fjord Montver, what is your Foundryhub user?
is the same @hot fjord
BTW mine is @forest jaspercastro
Okay I added you two and added you to the spanish team (I really hope that's correct)
I've given you the translate permission, I hope that's enough?
@forest jasper take a look at weblate to check if it can be imported with this permission
I can't The translation is temporarily closed for contributions due to maintenance, please come back later. It is also happening on the Br translation, so it is not a permissions problem.
No, I can't upload a file:
BR2:
SWADE:
What we need is to be able to access the upload translation menu option.
do you know which permission that is?
worst case you tell me which to upload and I'll upload it
For a first test, can you upload this:
As I read the docs the "Translate" permission should be enough, but...
uploaded!
And it looks like it works!!! Thank you very much.
yay
Great! Now I'll start translating the terms that are not yet translated.
I see that there are no permissions to add new languages. Would it be possible to add the other three languages: Catalan, Galician and Basque?
For some reason I had the option to upload the translation and didn't run into this issue, maybe it's because I created it?
Also, I had to upload it as .yml for some reason, but it worked just fine after
oh right, I restricted acces now. Please tell me your FoundryHub/Weblate name and which language to asign to you
SWADE Weblate
It's mclemente
done
I'll look into it
Thanks @radiant trench !
I'm just not sure whether I should just add those three languages to the spanish team. Seems a bit wierd
Since I can't assign the languages to you directly, I think
Or I ditch the language teams and just give people the translate role
They are all languages spoken in Spain (well, mainly), most people speaking them are going to be bilingual with Spanish. So it makes some kind of sense.
okay I added the languages to the weblate and the spanish translation group
I might also need y'all to help me adjust the manifest to add the appropriate entries
Sure, do you want a PR or just some guidelines in how to edit it?
as in the Spanish translation also does not allow for the rest.
It must be a permissions problem
when i upload a file, it doesn't show the options that replace the translation
this is in br2
if you can post the required JSON or do an MR that'll be grand. Either works
I already have english and german in, I'm just not sure about the rest
which country codes and label to choose mostly
That's easy:
"lang": "es",
"name": "Español",
"path": "es.json"
},
{
"lang": "ca",
"name": "català",
"path": "ca.json"
},
{
"lang": "gl",
"name": "Galego",
"path": "gl.json"
},
{
"lang": "eu",
"name": "Euskera",
"path": "eu.json"
}```
I know a person who speaks Esperanto... But he doesn't play Savage worlds 😜
@radiant trench As I do not have permissions if you could upload this files to translate the others languages, please.
this is catalán
this is gallego
and this is vasco
Any update of when it'll be unlocked again? Also, when will it get into a release?
ah right. Well try and fix it this weekend
as for when, likely the next feature release.
but nothing is set in stone yet
Luckily I have just finished translating into Spanish, as soon as it is unlocked I will start with the other languages (Catalan, Galician and Basque).
okay I managed to upload Catalan, but Galician is giving me the following error
File upload has failed: 'found duplicate key "Derived" with value "Derivados" (original value: "Estatísticas derivadas") in "<unicode string>", line 231, column 9:\n "Derived": "Derivados",\n ^ (line: 231)'
and Basque doesn't seem to properly register
@cobalt spear the spanish translation file is completely borked, full of linebreaks and spaces where there defiently shouldn't be any.
if you don't mind I'll grab the a version from the module repo and upload that?
oh shoot, wrong person sorry about that!
meant to ping @hot fjord

Ok, it is possible that it does not take correctly
So is that a yes or a no to my question?
I think it is a yes.
Yes, Sorry 😅
nw. I lost a few translations in the process tho so sorry from me ^^"
don't worry, I will translate it again
Spanish & catalan translated 100%, Galego 75%.
@unkempt smelt You can check here if you want to contribute to translations
shoud I do finnish?
Be ready to figure out how to translate "Unstun Modifier" and "Unshake Modifier". It will either be "modifier to stop being stunned/shaken" like Spanish/Portuguese did, or "stun/shaken resistance" like German did.
german has the advantage of having official reference material
Portuguese has an official release too, it's just that Unstun and Unshake aren't official terms
ahhh fair
I didn't know
tbh I don't think Unstun and Unshake are official terms either but they're so widely used that they might as well be
Hey, 2.4.1 is missing the Portuguese translation because the key is set to pt_BR instead of pt-BR
shoulda been fixed in 2.4.1
no worries
Request: localization for these. Btw "Has Max Value" already has HasMaxValue
And Additional Stats' Text placeholder that allows formatting so I can put adjectives after the nouns
file a ticket for that pls
I'm not quite sure what you mean
English does [adjective] [noun], some other languages do [noun] [adjective]
The placeholder's html is placeholder='{{localize "SWADE.Curr"}} {{attr.label}}'. It could be a formatted string to not sound strange for all languages. Alternatively, just remove {{attr.label}} from it and Max's placeholder so it'll show as "Current"/"Max". Probably easier. Also super minor issue since it'll be filled almost immediately
ah right, yeah make a ticket for that too pls
Hi.
What would be the process to add a French translation team?
1- user from the French team create their accounts on Foundry Weblate
2- I give you the accounts names
3- I provide you with the system fr.json to upload into weblate
4- then we can work on weblate to translate terms that are not yet translated
5- if any terms can't be translated or other language related issue, we create an issue on SWADE system git
right?
yup
Adding translation keys is easy enough
however changing existing keys should be discussed here first as it will impact more people
Hey guys, just noticed there are some new strings on the weblate
Yeah the weblate is hooked up to the active development branch so that translators can get a chance to add translations before the update goes live
Hi @radiant trench , i'd like to contribute to pt-BR translation. What should i do? My user is lipefl on weblate, btw
I'll add you to the team
Oh right, you've been added to the team
Hi, @radiant trench
Could you add French (fr) to the SWADE system Weblate?
Team will be @worn trellis and me.
My Foundry Weblate account is: @cyril.ronseaux
Could you upload this file to initialize the translation? https://www.uberwald.me/gitea/public/foundryvtt-swade-fr/src/branch/master/fr.json
(note: LeRatierBretonnien who is owner of the module is mostly managing the technical aspect for us to translate and doesn't need to be on the Weblate Team for now)
alright done. I still need Arnok's weblate name so I can add them to the french team
It's ArnokSden 😉
done :P
@radiant trench on rollDialog.hbs, could you change the first SWADE.Roll for a "roll noun"? Noun and Verb forms are different in other languages, so it is being shown with a "(to) roll" meaning instead of "(the) roll"
e.g. the "Roll" button is a verb, but the "Roll" legend is a noun
Hmmm, you make a good point
yeah we can improve that. Mind making a ticket for that pls?
Should I make another ticket for another localization request or just use the one already opened?
@radiant trench Please add simplified Chinese on weblate
Which information should I provide?
My weblate account is: @paper trail
This thread could use a pinned "How to request access" post
EDIT: damn, he pinned this message, the madman.
Here's what you need:
**Language:**
**Weblate Account(s):**
And my associate teammate: Baiyaojun@tutamail.com
Yes that'll be helpful
Add it to the existing
Weblate Onboarding
My Language Already Exists
If you language already exists, then great! Simply provide us with your weblate username (don't forget to make an account if you don't have one) and the language you would help to translate.
My Language Doesn't Exist
Please provide the following information:
- Your Weblate username (see My Language Already Exists)
- The name of your language, as well as its ISO language code, you can find a detailed list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-2_codes
- If one exists, please provide a link to an existing translation file. This file can then be imported to help you get started.
@cobalt spear Better? ^^
Way better. I'd use the ISO 639-1 link, though
@paper trail here you go.
I checked the foundry docs and they say ISO 639-2
Hm, something is wrong, then. The localization article links to 639-2, but Foundry uses the two letter format, and that list is missing cn too.
Anyway, that list is the best one I've found on the internet somehow
hm, that can't be right. Foundry does support more than 2 letters, we have brazilian portugese as well for example
{
"lang": "pt-BR",
"name": "Português (Brasil)",
"path": "lang/pt_BR.json"
}
also, it seems all languages spoken in china are pulled together under the zh code
I'm a little bit confused by ISO639-2, but in my experience, the simplified Chinese always use cn or zh-Hans
Weblate uses zh-Hans
It's not a Country you must provide (so not cn) but a locale, which is Language (so zh) then optionnal country (cn, hk, sg, tw).
In some case, the language has a default country and ignores the country part. e.g. for French, the French spoken in France is simply fr. But the French spoken in Canada, is fr_ca.
so chinese languages seem to be:
zh_cn, zh_hk, zh_sg, zh_tw
The existing translation file exported from weblate using zh_Hans
Assuming Foundry is javascript, javascript locale identifier follows the Unicode Locale Identifier norm.
https://www.w3.org/TR/ltli/ (same thing as browsers follow).
Where I see things like zh-Hans-CN, so I guess, you are right, and it's zh_Hans, indeed.
This document provides definitions and best practices related to the identification of the natural language of content in document formats, specifications, and implementations on the Web. It describes how language tags are used to indicate a user's locale preferences which, in turn, are used to process, format, and display information to the user.
Access request
Language: simplified Chinese
Weblate account: bnp800, Baiyaojun@tutamail.com
Locale code: zh_Hans
indeed, zh stands for chinese macro language, and zh-hant for traditional, and zh-hans for simplified, then you can add -cn if you want simplified chinese for china (so zh_hans_cn, but you don't need to specify the country, so zh_hans it the way to go).
@radiant trench Please check
I don't think -cn is needed
thx for the explanation
The more you ping the longer it will take.
@paper trail I added you and made a team for the chinese languages (at least I hope I did it right)
however I am having trouble uploading your translation file, I'm sorry.
I'll see if I can get it added anyway
oh wait, it's done it now!
wooo, french and simplified chinese are now in the system manifest
Any news on when the webblate repo will be unlocked?
Unlocked?
I can't push translations to it currently. Now I wonder if it's Weblate's maintenance or if the issue was something else 🤷♂️
ah, I see
Rebasing (1/6)

I blame the french /s
@cobalt spear I think I fixed it
if I fucked something up please tell me
Looks fine now
great
nevermind, message popped up again as soon as I clicked Save
All good now for real. Change was pushed 👍
What's the problem with french translation ? 🫤
Hi @radiant trench , will you open the access for translators to upload/edit glossary?
Will be really helpful.
I mean this
For example I just uploaded one for SWIM, but sadly it seems separate from the system itself.
Maybe. I'll need to look into it
We don't currently use it though as far as I know and I'm not sure how it'll interact with the system, i.e. what it actually does
@forest jasper do you use the glossary part of weblate for BR? If so, what does it offer to your module that the regular translation doesn't?
No, I don't. The truth is that I only use the repository maintenance menu 😜
You should probably ask the translators not me.
@hot fjord Can you help here?
The glossary is separate from the main module, and will only provide suggestions for those specific words within it.
It's helpful when a special game term can be translated differently, also it can improve the consistency of translation when multiple translators present.
For example, the word "healing" in Chinese can be translated to "医疗",“治疗”,“治愈”,different translators may choose different word as per preference. But it can be actually confusing.
I have no idea Sorry, i never used it🤷♂️
Well, the game terms (e.g. gangup, raise), skills, edges, hindrances, powers, are the main terms where you want that consistency. But usually those are pretty well defined in your local official translation, there is no reason to pick a different healing if the SWADE chinese book chose, say, 医疗.
So the glossary would be interesting for languages that are not officially translated?
Seems like a fairly reasonable request then
Any reason there's UseConv and ConvictionActivate, when they are pretty much the same message?
I'll take a look
ah, hm. We updated a dependency. I wonder if @storm kite could set an environment variable in the repo to fix this, or turn the CI off, the translations don't need it anyway
Hi, it seems the french translation is locked. Is it due to work in progress or something else ?
Hm, no, I didn't change anything. I'll need to take a look
Hi, it is no more locked (yay !), but it seems i don't have anymore the rights for the french translation.
that's wierd, you should be part of the french team, which has permission to translate french
ah wait
no, all should be good as far as I can see
what's the error?
@stiff fox can you edit the french translation?
never mind i just sign out and sign in again and it seems to work
cookie weird things i suppose
Hi, it seems that weblate is locked again 😭 (for french translation at least)
@stiff fox
All are marked as in error.
again?!
we are really really sorry... but yeah seems so 😦
not your fault, I think
I'm sure 😄
well, should be fixed now
I'd just love to know why it happens 😄
Hi, sorry again to bother you all, but the weblate for the french translation seems to be blocked again.
@storm kite we really have to investigate WHY the weblate constantly locks up
otherwise we'll have to cancel this project and go back to languages as mdules
unlocked again
okay I set the weblate to update via merge, not rebase. I hope that keeps it unlocked in the future
Couldn't you swap to gitlocalize or some alternative?
gitlocalize is for github only it seems, swade is on gitlab
for various reason, so that's a nogo
Note: If you want to contribute to the Weblate, the best way to request access currently seems to be creating a Gitlab issue.
this weblate is closed? I tried to contribute but this is the message that it shows: The translation is temporarily not accepting contributions due to maintenance; please check back later.
This translation was automatically blocked due to the following alerts: Could not process translation files. Could not merge repository.
Hi it seems Weblate is still closed (with new strings to translate).
Thanks, forwarded
Should be fixed
