are you stuck with the problem yet?

#

you maybe could change the image with fxmaster disabled, re enable it and use weather fx 'clear weather' button

#

then you re apply the original image again

yea i was able to increase the scene's grid px size after loading up in safe mode, then when i applied FXMaster is was less laggy enough that i was able to change the FX settings to disable the snowstorm effect

I'm still a little confused about how exactly the weather generation through visualcrossing works. After a lot of tinkering I got it to work for a second but then it maxed out the 1000 requests. I think I was pulling by the hour and requesting 10 days at a time and somehow burned through them all in like 2 min

#

I did love how realistic it felt though! much better than weather control

#

If you are open to feedback, i feel like it'd be a lot more accessible for noobs like me if there were an option to just use pre-loaded weather sets for each climate. Like if you were to use visualcrossing to generate a few good sets of realistic randomized hourly weather patterns that just loop. Then if a person max's out thier 1000 ping limit or just doesn't wanna mess with the api, they can still get the module going.

#

and definitely emphasize that it's not the API link in the query builder, its the API Key in your account that simpleweather needs

#

that one hung me up for a while

Ideally one could select from a dropdown menu in WeatherFX of all the possible weather descriptions and configure them to display specific FXmaster particle/filter presets and sound playlists

I've added this to the module readme

Looks great! The wording could use some work, great job with english not being your first language though!

Should include this detail: "You will find this API Key in your Visual-Crossing account details and it will link your account to SmallWeather. It is NOT the API Link found in the Visual-Crossing Query Builder."

#

Just maxed out my queries pretty quickly doing hourly again. Using the preview seems to pull a ton of queries so while testing things out new users are prone to max themselves out right away.

#

I really think pulling queries from Visual-Crossing should only be an "advanced" feature.
In the "Basic" tab, the climate dropdown menu should show a sidebar (identical to the "Advanced - Preview" sidebar) which displays that climate's list of saved queries. User's should then be able to save queries generated in the advanced tab with Visual-crossing, into their "Climate Templates".

#

The ability to save queries and add them to the climate templates would make this module so great!

So the workflow for the user would be as follows:

  • Activate the SmallWeather module
  • Choose a "Climate Template" (installed with a preset list of default queries) in the Basic configuration settings (which displays a sidebar list of the climate's saved queries that can be edited)
  • Choose to pull Hourly or Daily saved queries from the climate template
  • Hit preview to pull a random saved weather query from the selected climate template
    OR
  • Link SmallWeather to a Visual-Crossing account
  • Enter a US city/airport/zipcode into the "Location" in the Advanced configuration settings
  • Hit preview to pull queries from Visual-Crossing (which displays a sidebar list of fetched queries that can be selected and saved into a chosen climate template)

I like the idea of having the smallweather module connected to a livestreaming display of real weather patterns.
But for practical reasons I think it would be more useful to just have the Visual-Crossing API serve as a tool to build presets of saved Climate Templates

Also thanks for your workflow idea, I am gonna study how to implement it, might take some time though.

I have no idea how to code anything so it all seems like magic to me! keep up the good work ๐Ÿ‘
