also, do u need help with models? there's some kinda cringe models that makes my eyes bleeding (like a bald zombie's model with MSPaint-like blood texture and absolutely neutral face)
man i need help with everything lol. i cannot figure out how to pack this stuff correctly.. i tried for weeks to pack it on different computers.. the custom weapons would not show. i gave up completely. i'd be happy to pass the project (.jmf files) and all to someone else. if you have problems with packing just use resguy, and it will show you all the problems listed (wrong file names, missing files, sometimes the file paths are wrong inside sentences .txt files or even .gmr or .gsr)
sometimes the problems are files having caps but the reference is lowercase so it creates trouble

OK so now my problem is this: I had the weapons working fine, but then i used ResGuy, and now those bsp's won't show the custom weapons... 🫤

Resguy has problems reading scripts. When you pack it just copy all to a random folder and manually check the stuff from the scripts is there. Add it manually too, and in the res files too
i imported the new bsp's and everything generated from resguy into my sven addon folder, the script files i assume are all still in the same spot. so i'm thinking there is an error in the res file preventing the scripts from running. i added the scripts to the res file but still no luck

Tried it out and there were so many script conflicts... I removedmap_script duke/weapon_custom from each of the map cfg files and that was enough to remove them all and spawn the weapons

Maybe you could try you best to merge some maps together like the second map, players teleport a void blank on the next map and another map load start unnoticed.
And include that submarine maps

Look at 36:30 - 36:36, it took at least 2 map load to get to dn3d3.

My only solution is add a small cutscene where players got ambush at the end of second map, just like freeman was attacked in the dark room.
Remove that dark void map and then switch to dn3d3 straightforward.

btw have you used resguy to look at the problems with the files? so you can fix file paths or missing ones, there must be a bunch!

Yes I used ResGuy. i think it packed everything fine, for the most part. I think there are no missing files now, but maybe some script issues and Sprite hud glitches. Unless it didnt pack skyboxes.. But those look nice, i will add them too
Sprite hud glitches may be common. Mmmm..
You always need a weapon_*.txt for the custom sprites, of course named after the weapon entity
When using CustomSpriteDir in the entity you only need to mention the folders without sprites/ in it like for example "folder1/folder2", or just "folder1" if you have sprites/folder1/weapon_dildo.txt
The weapon_ text must start with the number of sprites that file is listing at the top, and the sprites listed star at sprites/ folder and without quotes so it looks something like:

Or shit like that.
Your sprites should work just fine if they are in the entity or scripted. But if you are using the custom hud sprites script it sometimes may shit itself during mapload, randomly to random players. So dont worry

@fossil swallow there're plenty of map that had potential for merging. Many of them had very few amount of clipnodes, so this is one of the best bet.
👍 i got rid of the black map between lvl 2 & 3, and now I'll merge the submarine map with levl 4.. i suppose i could merge lvl 4_1 with 4_2
7 maps have merged together so far. Only 3 last map.
@fossil swallow got some minor bugs fixed on dn3d1 and dn3d2, as well as adding some level change sprites.
Pls be aware that some custom weapons wont be able to function properly, many map share duped weapon_custom entities so you might need to delete them.
Also added a new ambush cutscene at the end of dn3d2.

The whole work had mainly done with bspguy.
BSPs cannot be modified in J.A.C.K. nor any map editor

I didnt realize u could merge maps like that.. doesn't create geometric / spawning / clipping, other problems?
I can use winBsp to change them to a .jmf tho right? In case i need to add/make more edits

i'm not sure i can use your updates because i can't convert them back to .jmf files for editing .. winBsp keeps crashing when i try.. unless there is a different way? i made some balance changes, added stuff, changed weapons, deleted redundancies.. made quite a few changes already since last update.. but i super-appreciate the work u did and want to keep it.. maybe i can send u current version.. i'd actually be willing to pay u for ur time if ur interested
Nope, you can't just convert them back to jmf since most of them were merged together. Those maps can only be viewed and edited via bspguy or ripent tool just like four-nine said.

Suggest you should use newbspguy if you aren't too familiar. As it is more updated and convenient than wootguy version.

@low falcon @bleak shuttle i'm not sure i want to use BSPguy, because i can't go through JACK & edit further... once it's done through bspguy, seems like there is no going back to Jack... is this true? i've already made a bunch of edits on JACK since last update in May 27, based on @low falcon gameplay video... also BSPguy seems to lack some of the features JACK has. @bleak shuttle could i trouble you for a list of bug fixes you made so i can put them in? 🙂
The original map still can be modified if you're not merge them together. What bspguy basically do during merging process was move everything away from the original map origin, so the lightmap, texture and brush entities origin will be mess up and turn into something is not convertable. Newbspguy used to get rid some of these but didn't do much either. I suggest that you should view everything i made in my own version with bspguy, see what i have changed and add it to your own map as you see fit.
Most of the changes i made was reduce all checkpoint's teleport delay time to 0.01 second ( btw you add mp_telefrag 0 to all map cfg files, otherwise it will be a bit annoying ). Added level change sprites and last but not least, the ambush cutscene at the end of dn3d2.
