i am confused at discord's role permissions

what i want to do:
i have a role called Member, it has send messages and change nickname permission. I have another role called nickname restrict where it does not have any permissions enabled. I want to make it so that if the user has the nickname restrict role, they can't change their nickname. The nickname restrict role is higher than the member role but when the user has the member role and the nickname restrict role, they can still change their nickname

how do i make it so that as long as the member has the nickname restrict role, they cant change their nickname regardless if they have the member role? btw the change nickname permission is disabled in the everyone role

Short answer: You can't.

If users have the nickname permissions enabled on Member role, users will get them regardless if they have the nickname restrict role or not.

You can't restrict this permission in server role settings with another role, rather only enable it. I would suggest disabling changing nickname on Member role and create a "Nickname Perms" role and only remove the role to those you want to remove nickname access to.

This means, upon joining, you will have to give two roles instead of one. And moderators/admins will have to be able to remove the "Nickname Perms" role if they want to restrict access to a specific user.

Do you want to get the content of messages? You'll need to apply and be approved for the message content intent. Do you want to get guild members? You'll need to apply and be approved to get the guild members intent. Do you want to get presence information? You'll have to apply and be approved to get the guild presences intent. For an unverified bot, you can just turn these on and off at will. Verified bots have to have Discord validate that there's a justifiable use case, vet your privacy policy, ensure you're handling data correctly, etc. before they can use these functions.

(Note the message content intent isn't restricted yet, that's starting in April 2022)
