The scam basically proceeds to the point where they ask you to change your account email to a temporary account so they can 'scan your account' or some such. 'third party vendor'.

In reality, they convince you to change your email to one in their control, giving them 100% control over your account.

Why is signing up for a new discord such an exhausting process when I already run my own discord and am currently logged in?

I was asked to join a new discord, and had to enter my email address 3 times (each time getting a message that this address is already claimed) before getting a verification email.

Then the browser wants to download the app AGAIN instead of just opening into the app.
