I mean from a programming standpoint they now don't need to support 2 separate systems, one with stricter rules and one with less strict rules.

Their syntax checking for pinging would be greatly simplified if they can rule out anything except alphanumeric characters + a few extras.

Their storage for the names can be in ASCII and there can be checking for inappropriate language.

In general, systems must be standardized. In most programming languages you cannot have a list with mixed types. In this case, it's just better for there to be uniformity.

So basically I have spent a lot of time trying to get channel permission correct for when the mute command is used through dyno and I have a channel which gets unlocked at level 5 and the channel is basically locked till then I was trying something else with my alt account but if I have the level 5 role I can chat there but I also won’t get muted in that channel

Make sure you set up the mute role for that channel so that they can't type or connect to it. Better is to just use discord's builtin time out feature.

If you believe an email is fake then you maybe able to contact Discord in a ticket to verify the origin but from looking at it with no grammatical errors and shady business, I can verify that Discord is the one who sent you that email. As Discord will only send you issues, responses and all sorts of notifications through your email themselves.
