It’s not that the other one isn’t working then, it means discord forums don’t work like that. If you join a forum by joining it or speaking in it, it’ll be added to the channel list on the left hand side and then the white dot will come up when someone posts a new message in that thread and you should be able to mark as read then. Otherwise though, forum channels don’t work like that
