My account just got permad because I had no idea about this whole image thing thats been going around, I joined a randos discord and they had a fake captcha (3 black and white images and 1 Colored image) you were supposed to send the colored image in the chat to get verified on the server and roughly 5 minutes after sending the picture my account is now disabled, I dont know what to do, I have had that account since 2015 with the old nitro on it, countless communities that I was apart of, just so much stuff on that account, on top of that im essentially swatted now because discord sends all of my info to local authorities from a picture of a man eating popcorn, when is discord gonna do something about this? when are all the inno accounts that got permad gonna be given back? anyone else?

Discord also has all of the info from accounts, why dont they go after the people who have servers loaded with the images and verify whos genuinely distributing it? why are accounts that are unknowingly sending the image one time getting perma banned when they have no flags or anything on their account?

They can see the hash from the image thats banning people, they can see all these users getting banned from the same hash, have they not seen a spike in shadow bans since these images started circulating? Do they not investigate any of these cases?

If you get banned because of these images they also dont bother to send you an email letting you know that youre banned, on top of this they dont send you a human response via email, I doubt that theyre reading the email based on the fact you never get a real reply, and they wait a few days to send you an automated one letting you know that they arent reinstating the account. They just throw it out the window and forget about it, I really hope you guys step up and do something about it. I had to do research and figure out why I even got banned because they dont care to tell you why you got banned.

I am trying to set up various user roles on a server, but I am facing some issues. I have around 3-5 leading roles such as unverified, verified/member, author, and web-based. However, I want to restrict access to web or author categories for users with the unverified role (and the member's role).

I have set the role on "no view channel" in perms for unverified, but it's not working. Even though the role is above member and blogger/web-area categories role, unverified users are still in the member list.

Could anyone please help me understand why a higher role is not restricted for some channels regarding view or access? Thank you so much!

Try seeing if the auto role system that you use in your server assigns the unverified role correctly to all new users. No other role must be assigned during this process.
On verification, ensure that there's a system to remove that role and replace it with a verified role.
If your perms are set correctly for the role, there ideally shouldn't be an issue. However, you can try disabling view channel for all channels and set it to member-only (only users with member role)

Well, yeah, that works. A user who joins gets the unverified role, and as soon as they check the role, they get verified. The final verification is through me, tho (for the member role). So, technically, it should work afaik

The only way I know of is to download an apk on android. Version 205 was the last stable version before this update. Delete your discord from your phone, download the APK file of version 205, and allow it to run. Your phone will throw a small fit bc it didn't come from the app store, but it should still work. If you're on IOS as far as I know you're totally stuck with it. Other than canceling your nitro, rating the app 1 star (and checking back) and sending as much negative feedback as possible, there really isn't much you can do. Tho all of those things are still good things to do

I'm also looking into an alternative app called revolt. It's a discord clone that has more or less the old UI. As far as I know it still lacks an IOS app, but once that app comes out Its likely I try to get my friends to migrate. My IOS friends are the only reason i'm still on discord at all rn

I should also add that if you do download an APK of version 205, you will start to risk your security. Because you're running an old version of the app that isnt' connected to the app store, you won't get auto updates that bolster cyber security. It's a trade off and I'm not sure if its worth it in the long term

I've heard apkmirror is a good place to look. Version 205 was the last stable update to discord before this awful update. I will also say that downloading this APK will bar you from getting future updates. Meaning you'll eventually e running on outdated security software. It's a risk to this method

you're able to turn a channel, emoji, role, or person into a weird lookin id that you use in Embeds to make it interactable. To do this, you just put a backslash () in front of it. For example, if I do !sparkle_blurple << it turned into a weird looking id

What i really typed was "\ " (Except with no space in between the emoji and the backslash)

I have a game studio that I'm running, which used to have a discord server. Unfortunately, my account (which owned the server) was banned and now there is no one who has control over the server (or even moderating permissions). I'm trying to get it taken down, because nobody ever uses it and sometimes people are mislead into asking questions about the studio in our server, rather than going to an active social media page. I've contacted discord support multiple times about getting the server taken down, but they've rejected my requests.

Tonight I was hacked and the hacker keeps making purchases through my PayPal account associated to the Discord account. They changed the email connection to my account and I cannot access my account.

I reached out to Discord via Facebook, Twitter and email, but I am afraid they will reach back out when all money from the PayPal account are already spent.

Do you have any advice for me in this situation? Should I just wait for Discord's reply?

You should be able to freeze your PayPal, and you should be able to dispute the purchases either through PayPal or through your bank
