Fun time using Discord and their amazing platform! So, gif fails to resize for me... Quite unfortunate... So, I manually did it! Go me, right?! ... NOPE Discord still says "failed to resize" a gif that is the exact specifications of what Discord want for uploads....

iirc "failed to resize" is what discord tells you when the filesize of the gif you want to upload is too large

i use ezgif --> optimize for reducing file sizes personally; however be warned too much optimizing will make it look a bit scuffed

I max'd the optimisation and it's still above 500mb, I just... "borrowed" it from another server.

Now, Discord in their infinite wisdom already have a "file size too large" error... why don't they use this for everything that is too large? We may never know... Thanks Discord.

Blocked IP is the primary cause of Discord bans

There is no way to bypass an Ip ban on discord. But you can try to wait until the server lifts the ban or contact the server administrator to have the ban removed. Otherwise, the people will have to get a new Ip address. You can also try some VPN or Proxy. (THIS IS NOT SPONSORED)

Hiya! So a friend of mine is having an issue where when we're in a call together, I can't hear them something like 90% of the time. I sometimes get brief moments of being able to hear them, but they only stay long enough for me to say I heard them, just to cut out again. We've tested a bunch of things out with their microphone and their internet to no avail.

Additionally, we know it's not those things, because Discord still picks up their microphone, and indeed it still makes their avatar light up whenever they speak. I do not have this issue with any other person, and I'm running out of options to try 😭

Managing a platform at the scale of Discord (or any other massive social media service) is not as easy as you seem to believe. Ideally, yes, Discord would swiftly take action against every instance of hate on its platform. I feel confident that they would very much like to. In reality, though, there's not nearly enough resources to throughly handle every report. So, things get triaged, things fall through the cracks, etc. In the end, it comes down to a question of the law of large numbers, where eventually each perpetrator will run afoul of a report that gets actioned.

To echo what other people have mentioned, though, if you want people to take you even a little bit seriously, try not coming in with "ur dumb" whenever you disagree with someone. It destroys 100% of any credibility anyone might have lent your understanding.

My friend got hacked, but the hacker didnt log him out of discord since he has an app that never lets him log out or smth like that so he doesnt even need to know his password (which he doesnt) now when he tried to change his password he couldnt cause it asked him for his password which he didnt know, and when going to password recovery, it wanted his email, and the hacker did get that. so he has no access to the email, now the only thing on his account that can prove its actually him and get his account back, is the fact it does have his phone number in it, and since he can still access is own account just not change passwords and email, he can say its been hacked and such

Ok so, my friend account got hacked, he is able to be inside of it still, but unable to change password or recover it since he canno't access his email.

we tried contacting discord support but they just say they cant help unless we use the same email from the account, but there must be onother way to recover the account right? we have so much proof the account belongs to him

like his phone number being there

the hacker sending virus files to people

since he is still able to access the account, it means he can show he still have access to it, meaning he might be the hacker or the owner, he can also say what happened in chat and send the message link.

the devices connected to the account (Before it was hacked and where the most used) he can access those and show proof its their device.

there are even several other accounts (like steam) that are connected to the account, and can be used as proof

if he used the same email for other stuff too, then thats more proof that he had access to that email

is there ANY way for him to recover the account? Like the fact discord must USE gmail ONLY for account recovery is stupid, you should be able to recover your account if shown enaugh proof.

So, I'm in a server which has been wrongly reported after an argument between several users and the staff members there got a lot of wrongly given warnings.
I 100% understand that discord can't do a case by case thing. But I would like to know if I could get in touch with someone from the discord moderation team to talk about the topic of this server.
Basically that server's topic is related to scambaiting and is honestly extremely helpful for a lot of people. And seeing it go would honestly lead to less people being informed about scams and how to protect themselves online and irl.

Again, feel free to redirect me anywhere else. That channel was my first guess about where I should go.

Recently heard that there was a bot update that happened to where if you put a /, a bunch of bot commands compatible with that prefix will show up automatically above the type box. I didn't know what people were talking about until I saw someone stream their screen, and type /help, and then they were able to interact with them put in the next inputs only seen by them. I tried the same thing, and nothing happened; no bot commands showed above my chat box. I tried this in other servers with other bots and it seems like the problem may be my pc, or my account thats not updated to have that. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Before this update, i was able to use bot commands just fine, but since no options show up, i cant use bots at all and i dont have much choice than to ask other people to do it for me when I need a bot to do something. Is there a way to fix this? Or some account setting option I'm missing?
