Hello, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice here:

I have a member in my server who is getting harassed by someone else in the server, but the harasser is doing this off the Discord server anonymously. We have no idea who it is. We've made announcements strongly against harassment, that anyone unhappy with a member needs to contact a mod, the member directly, or leave--all three of which have not happened.

The member has reported the harasser on the other platforms, but is there anything we can do to figure out who this person is? Anything I'm not thinking of?

The harasser has mentioned things that the harassed has only mentioned in the server.

I run a writing server for a specific anime pairing and the harassed has posted stories to AO3. The harasser commented anon on her AO3 stories, saying some terrible things--and the harassed blocked them on AO3 as well as stopped anon comments on her stories. The harasser then created an AO3 account and began messaging them again, that account was blocked and reported.

Currently, the harassed is working on an event and now this harasser has sent anon messages to the harassed's Tumblr account. The harassed has reported it to Tumblr and blocked the anon commenter, but they specifically mentioned things only said by the harassed in the server group.

So we know they're in it.

this huge problem rarely happens to me. if you want to track the harasser. is hard because it's in-plat-and-out-platform.

i might can't help. but increasing security in the server can help. more moderators hiring. and so. global mods would be very needed since we have different timezone....

advice 2nd: idk what Tumblr is since the website is blocked by Indonesian communications ministries or whatever they call it. but ig you must stay vigilant, so does your mods.

We have talked about adding additional mods to our team, but honestly, the idea that we might add the harasser without knowing it and giving them an inside look to things has kept us from doing so. Like, we literally have no idea who it is. All we know from the comments is it seems to be someone who writes well.

What's Discord Trust and Safety's response time for hacked accounts. Cause I got mine hacked via a token grabber (so it bypassed 2FA) and they got into my email too. That's not what it means, lol. It's like marking an email as read, so it doesn't show up as a "new message you haven't seen yet" in the app. That marks it as read for you, not delivering a read status to the sender.

What to do about your server having to many channels

Try to short list channels which seem useless or extra and delete them. For example if you have seperate channel for each game bot, it would be suitable to delete those channels and keep one or two channels for bot usage (if it's a big community server with over 1k active members). Another way to maintain the server is short listing what channels are of which categories over text and then segregating them into similar categories

i think this is about "ip ban" and other relevant stuffs, try to mass-unban but as soon as you're doing it you need to check your alt by rejoining, if your alt is still ip banned, then ask staffs in the server to grant "the main account" the admin perms
