Hi, when I get a ping in a highly active channel, and the message has disappeared, how can I quickly go back to it? I think it's a little ridiculous that it doesn't just show on screen when I click the notification, but I'm willing to deal with it if there's an easy workaround. Sometimes search bugs out on the huge server I'm on, and doesn't let me search for mentions, so that's not a great option if it's the only one. (by disappeared I mean swallowed in the stream of messages, not deleted)

I use Discord to make art via Midjourney, so I use the (upload file) feature a LOT. When you click it, it opens Windows Explorer / File Explorer, whatever you want to call it, on Windows 10. Normally, if I want to preview an image BEFORE uploading, I can simply right click an image, and open it. After the recent Discord update, when I attempt to do that, it constantly asks me what program do I want to use to OPEN the file...

Ah, that looks like a windows thingy. You can select the program you wanna open with and check the "Always use this app to open .png files" to make it open with that program in the future.

@sudden creek As I'm working with a lot of similar images, I want to make sure I choose the right one before uploading, so I want to preview the image FIRST before uploading, so I right click the image, and left click 'open' to view it with it's default app first. This is where the problem comes in. It can send images fine. But after the last Discord update for some reason the 'open image' feature while browsing just won't remember it's default app.

But if I just browse the hard drive by opening file explorer (not through Discord) and do the same then to open the image, it works fine.

I'm not on my laptop right now so I can't follow these steps to help diagnose the issue but maybe a fresh reinstall of Discord will do the trick

Well I explained it before, but I can again.
1: click the + button to the left of chat box here, then click upload file. This opens "file explorer". (the windows default file browser)
2. browse to where your images are you wish to upload.
3. pick one of the thumbnails, right click on it, left click 'open' (to preview the image to make sure it's the right one before attaching)

Bug report has been filed out with provided screenshots and data. Hopefully they can help. I spent 4-5 hours a night working on art and sharing it with friends in various channels and the ability to preview an image before uploading is important, and worked until just recently.

My next step might just be to permanently switch to Linux Mint, except for the fact that the one app I use daily (Photoshop CC) doesn't run on Linux yet. And I don't want to have to switch back and forth between OS's or dual boot to do it. My work flow is such that , I can be chatting on DIscord, creating art / editing images, then sharing them with the people they were intended for. And having to go to another room , or reboot, just doesn't work.

I tend to use macOS with parallels a lot, docker builds on m1/m2 chips are not great if you are the only one using it in the team heh. I read you had a mac mini, could give that a try too

The Mini wouldn't work in this particular instance either, as it's set up in a different room connected to a color calibrated photo editing display for accuracy. Where as the kind of things I'm doing here on this Windows pc on my TV, are more just, computer wallpapers / general art / gaming / media consumption.

I've been doing alpha and beta testing of games for some various games, and being able to screen shot the bugs / images I come up with and then directly uploading to the dev teams that asked me to look for the bugs here in Discord, so, the Windows machine + Discord is kind of important at the moment in multiple ways. So I'll just wait patiently for a response from the bug ticket and go from there.

Hello, I just saw that my server has 1134 members, which is weird, because this morning I had 1020 members and we got no “welcome” messages or anything, and bots say that we have 1028 members. @cosmic viper I'm pretty sure that's because those members haven't agreed to the server rules yet. The welcome message only shows after they've agreed to those. That might be the reason the bots show a lower amount aswell. I'm not 100% sure, but this seems most likely the reason :)

Hmm well, maybe the best thing you could do is create a mod only channel called #sus-members

So you could say Member#0000 is sus.

And the mods check that channel on a regular basis.

And my solution for a discreet mod/admin role, is maybe if your users could have self color roles, you could create a mod/admin role that has the same name as a color like (•Red) with the same hex code to make it less obvious. Also you need to put an invisible character in the discreet mod/admin role.

Because they only join servers when they want you to join servers, like when you click a button. Their are apps made for servers to gain traffic in a kind of bad way, dashboard isn't one of them lol.

These apps are kind of like scams but they aren't, and they are fine because you latterly gave them permission to do this.
