Still new to 3d printing, attempted leveling the bed with a4 paper. First few prints looked fine, but whenever there's a large print, some parts of the bed don't stick well so some prints ended up really bad.

Tried leveling again and calibrating z offset, however I think I've made it worse because nothing sticks now, and when the printer does a "purge line", it used to be straight, now it's spirally and looks weird

i've adjusted the z offset and it produced much better output but it's still not sticking in certain areas

Tips for better first layer success

The first layer is quite literally the foundation of a successful print. These are some of the things to keep in mind:

  • Wash your print surface with dish soap and water, refer to ?bedcleaning .
  • Ensure your printing temperatures are appropriate. For PLA, the ideal bed temperature is 55°C-60°C. If the lines appear to come out "gummy" and forms clumps, raising the nozzle temperature may help. Calibrate your nozzle temperature by printing a temperature tower. Refer also to ?platemps .
  • Relevel your bed and ensure your nozzle distance is equally spaced at each corner, refer to ?paperlevel . If your printer is equipped with a bed meshing probe such as a BLTouch or CRTouch, make sure your Z-offset positions the nozzle close enough to the bed, refer to ?z-offset for additional information. If your printer has automatic Z-offset calibration, make sure the nozzle is clean while the calibration runs.
  • You can confirm that your leveling and Z-offset is correct by observing your first layer extrusion by printing a full layer test: Printables, Thingiverse Refer to ?leveling for help with the interpretation of the results.
  • Ensure the nozzle is not colliding with the print. This usually presents itself as loud noises and layer shifting. Some causes may include overextrusion, insufficient cooling, mechanical Z axis issues, or insufficient Z hop
  • For warp-prone materials such as ABS, Nylon, Polypropylene and others an enclosure is recommended, ensure ambient temperatures are high enough (40°C+) and stable. Consider using a specialized bed adhesive.

As well as it checking the start gcode to make sure it's using mesh (g29? Or m420)

Didn't reply back since I resolved the issue (I think?). I was able to get some reliable prints since then.
However, I've ran into a new issue today where for some reason prints just aren't sticking well in the center of the bed. Brim prints nice and I think my z-offset is correct because it can print well in areas of the bed away from the center, but when it has to fill anything near the center it just doesn't stick.

Tried cleaning the bed with some alcohol and re running the mesh several times, even had to factory reset just to make sure it wasn't some config issue, but I wasn't able to resolve the problem.

I'm using PETG and the nozzle temp is at 240C, bed at 80C.
I wouldn't say the roll is the driest its been, but I don't think it's an issue since it can print well in some places but just craps itself in the center.

Could it be an issue with the hardware?
