ive been trying to figure out how to add text on the first layer of this booklet that holds pictures for my girlfriend. im basically trying to get a flush text that i could have in a different color and after hours i really cant get it to work right man.
I just want some text on the cover of the booklet

hit the emboss button.

#

then click and drag the text over the surface, across the edge, and onto the bottom surface.

#

put it where you want it, then set the "from surface" parameter to negative whatever the depth you chose for the text. the "deeper", the truer the color will be, to a point. I think 3x your layer height should be fine for black or other strong colors.

drag it accross the edge? ive just been look at the model from below

#

to add the text

late shell
#

ah, well, if it appears on the bottom that's fine too

#

I was lookinig at it from above when I tried, and found I could drag it across

left aspen
#

yeah like i want it below not on top which is what u can see rn yk

#

so like basically the first layers

late shell
#

no, I was right

#

you want to look at it from above, then drag it underneath

#

otherwise it wants to be mirrored

left aspen
#

let me see if i can find on yt how tf ur getting it to drag underneath

#

mine just stays on the top if i start from the top

#

i hope this isnt some snorca vs orca bs

late shell
#

same way I got it here

#

click and drag

left aspen
#

so i got the text on the bottom

#

its been assembled

#

i got this

late shell
#

set "from surface" to -1.00mm

left aspen
#

done

#

now u cant even see the text but im assuming theres more

late shell
#

you have to paint it a different color

#

er, change the color of the object

#

you have multiple colors on the left panel, right?

#

like adding a filament?

left aspen
#

once i slice it it disappears in the preview

#

its white text yeah for white pla

late shell
#

don't slice it yet

#

the white text on the red background?

#

can you take a wider screenshot?

left aspen
#

yup

#

cant see it

late shell
#

what about the left part of the screen?

#

the materials panel

left aspen
#

max i can do is -.98 before it disappears

late shell
#

hmmm

#

it's already white?

left aspen
#

yeah i got it white

#

thats why u can see it rn

#

if i do from surface -1 it disappears again

#

max is -.98

#

i wonder if it has to do with the fact that the inside is basically holo its just infill not really many layers of just flat

#

entire model is 34 layers

late shell
#

go to multimaterial settings

left aspen
#

i skipped over prime tower its all default

#

tldr i can see the text in prepare but it disappears in preview

late shell
#

try enabling the tower and see if that helps

#

it's the only thing I can see different

left aspen
#

no difference with it on or off

late shell
#

wait hold up

#

what's with the painting?

#

nothing we've done requires painting

left aspen
#

painting?

late shell
#

the assembly has the paint symbol next to it

left aspen
#

wtf

late shell
#

color painting

left aspen
#

should i hit erase all painting

late shell
#

yes

left aspen
