is tinkercad a good place to start for 3d modeling? additionally, how do you get accurate measurements for things? if i, for example, wanted to make a case for my house key, how would i go about getting everything to fit? or if i wanted to make a holder for a gaming controller, which would be really hard to measure. do people usually use a scanner for these or something instead?

Yes, Tinkercad is a good place to start for 3D modeling, especially for beginners. To get accurate measurements for your designs, you can use a digital caliper to measure the physical object and then input those measurements into your modeling software.

For creating a case for your house key or a holder for a gaming controller, it is best to have the physical object on hand so you can measure it accurately. In some cases, you may also find 3D models of common objects online that you can use as a base for your design.

People usually use calipers, rulers, or measuring tape to manually measure objects. In some cases, you can use a 3D scanner to create a digital representation of an object, but this may not always be necessary for simpler designs.

i know this is probably a huge question but i'm curious. especially for complicated shapes that don't already have a model available to use
