hey, i'm pretty new to 3d modeling and using fusion360 since that's what i hear is good and got it for free with my school and was wondering if there is anyone that could possibly help me out and stuff. i have a centauri carbon and was wondering:

  1. how could i print this out for my big-ass head
  2. if this is even possible (probably a stupid question)
  3. if anyone would be okay in helping me out for this

Hello! I can definitely help you with 3D printing questions.

  1. To print something for your head, you'll need to make sure the design fits your head's dimensions and possibly split the model into parts depending on your printer's build volume.
  2. It is possible to 3D print something for your head, but it may require some adjustments to the model and print settings.
  3. There are plenty of online communities and forums where you can ask for help with 3D modeling and printing. You can also consider reaching out to local makerspaces or 3D printing clubs for assistance. However, I cannot facilitate direct connections for you.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the 3D printing process or troubleshooting!

i could also send stl file if that is helpful

Looking good! Here some ideas:

You make it so the bottom is large enough to fit over everything with extra space...and then wear like a yellow skii mask or add stretchy fabric material to the bottom to hide the hole.
Or glue the entire thing with fabric flaps and close it at the back or front with velcro (that anyone can access)
The fabric will work as a "living hinge"
You'll still want extra gap and room to move.

Stuff like stockings + flywire mesh are commonly used for black visors, the angle and width of this head should give pretty good visiabilty....but as it's curver you might need a bit of structure through too. (Like on ancient diving helmets with the cage covering the glass, but on the inside)

Look at how plastic covid face shield bands (or buy one) to stop it wobbling.

Absolutely possibly and this should look cool.
You could use adaptive layer hieght for reducing layer times too.

Same sort of stuff as printing honestly,
But brb, i'll get some paper.

regal juniper

okay, tank you so much for this help

Old helmet i mention (via google)

#

Can you get me a picture of a covid face sheild please? @regal juniper
Need it for drawing reference.

i was also thinking that the black visor would be one of those things, like the furry eye thing where you can't really see inside, but outside you can

#

oh shiiit, apparently i can 3d print the tiny holes to look-through

low storm
#

Oo and if you do it out of pla you could heat form it too.

#

Lol looks like a grid iron helmet. 😅 with my mesh and bars.
Might want to bars in a different spot so make it separately so you can physically edit it.

Like your idea better tbh.

#

Wonder how it's go on grid iron helmet straps? Might be comfy? 🤔

#

Oh btw, a living hinge is literally just hinge made out of bendy stuff
So a book spine is a good example.

regal juniper
#

cause i was thinking (i didn't mean to make the pac head bigger than my actual head, but like, a tiny bit bigger), for the pac head to be designed so that it's kinda like a bike helmet

low storm
#

Oo ok,
Yeah i was err starting to think sideways clamshell.
totally not like an iron maiden without the spikes catlook

regal juniper
#

plus, the visor doesn't have to be so big that it touches my face and the helmet, just enough to get stuck when it goes over the mouth, and up when i wanna see with my actual head

#

Oo wonder if you could hinge and articulate the jaw. (Like on furry stuff!)

I get the saftey part dw, but when i start drawing all sort of strange stuff happens. My sketchbook is a journey. One page is very peacful birds in trees and one is ninja rabbits having a war shrug_dragon
Anyways.. back to cosplay.

regal juniper
#

lol, i do get that, don't even worry about it

#

i did think of doing that, but i am kinda on a time crunch, since the event i'm going to is gonna be in like 19 days, and i was lowkey putting this off for a while pensivLoaf

low storm
#

Oh damn ok.
Is your filament dried and printer tuned?
2kg of yellow? 🤞🤞

#

(i think it'll be about 2kg) settings dependant

regal juniper
#

i have the elegoo pla+ stuff

#

the rapid pla+ i think it's called

low storm
#

Whats the slicer wtimate atm for print time? 😅

regal juniper
#

well i haven't really modeled the thing right now to the full extent, but as of now, i would say it's about 2 days

#

which isn't really bad in hindsight since i have easy access to stuff like spray paint and just coat that stuff up with the primer

low storm
#

Ok fair... But i'd export it as it now and do a test slice (just while we are drawing) jussst in case.
You'll want add a day of fiddling with the printer in case too.
As well as paint drying time..

regal juniper

#

And it'll need longer on the paint if it's cold. (As well as the glue!!)

#

Cold and glue are not fun 😅

#

Ignore the jaw hinge + elastci if you doing static
But kind what i was thinking.

Having a proper mesh at the front with help with moisture from your breath and keeping you cool.

so for one of the pieces, it would take 17 hours

#

and they are equal with the rest of the sphere

#

so it would take 2.84 days to print the sphere

#

wait, lies

#

it would take the bottom half of the sphere to be 34 hours and the top half of the sphere to be 2.25 days

#

so in total, the sphere alone would take abouttt

#

3.66666666667 days

low storm
#

Yeah so a week realistically. (Add time budget for failure + mistakes + experiments)

regal juniper
#

or 4 days realistically

#

yehhhh

low storm
#

Do it \o/

regal juniper
#

but i think i can make this work

#

so you think it would be smooth even if i put the velcro in the vertical half of the head?

low storm
#

You gotta have either a large hole at the bottom or a gap somewhere if uh ya wanna keep ya head. thinkies

But then i guess you could also velcro the seams. (White or yellow velcro)
(Not hot glue, hot glue and velcro no worky) Super glue, yes.
If you're going with friends, tell them how the helmet can be opened at the start if the convention or whatever. (For emergency reasons)

**My design is absolutely untested
