hey guys! Been a while since I've used the printer or been on the serv. MY extruder gear is starting to slip. Guess it's finally time to upgrade to a metal extruder assembly? My elegoo neptune 2 is basically a clone of the ender 3 so would this metal extruder be compatible as it just bolts to the stepper motor?

Or I could get a BMG dual gear extruder clone, which im also guessing works as it bolts on the stepper motor?

Which one should I get. They're pretty much the same price.

Both the metal extruder assembly and the BMG dual gear extruder clone can be good upgrades for your Elegoo Neptune 2/Creality Ender 3 printer. The metal extruder assembly is a simpler and more direct replacement for the stock extruder, so it may be easier to install. On the other hand, the BMG dual gear extruder clone can provide better grip and feeding performance, especially with flexible filaments.

For compatibility, both options should work fine with your printer as they typically bolt on to the stepper motor just like the stock extruder. If you are looking for a more reliable and higher-performance option, the BMG dual gear extruder clone might be the way to go, especially if you plan on printing with a variety of filaments.

Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to your specific needs and preferences. Make sure to do some research and read reviews to see which option aligns better with your printing requirements.

Also do you know why your extruder gear is slipping?

#

The metal extruder seems to have a brass gear, which are known to wear down with time and slip.
The dual extruder has a plastic lever and housing, a feature that's in general known for cracking and causing problems.

or/and the spring has lost tension which results in less force applied to the filament pushing it against the gear
