Hello all.

I bought a used Creality CR 3040s (2018) (300x300x400) machine and been trying to print benchy a few times now but they all have very thin walls and dosent look good. Also someitmes, it is clogging up in the top (2 out of 4 prints). Might change the nozzle to a new one (have 5 extra new 0.4 ones). Why does it looks so hollow/thin?

Using Creality PLA white (I got it with the machine, my first PLA) I have bought 6 new rolls that comming on tuesday. Also temp is 200 (been trying higher (204 + 210 + 215) as well, cant remember what print.

Im using Cura and printer is not on the list, so I did a custom one and used marlin g-code flavor. I will attach pictures for 1-4 benchys and my printer settings.

It sounds like you may be experiencing underextrusion issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and improve your prints:

  1. Nozzle Check: If the nozzle is clogging, it may need cleaning or replacing. Changing to a new 0.4mm nozzle from your spares could help.
  2. Filament Check: Ensure the filament is feeding smoothly and not tangled or caught on anything. Make sure the filament diameter setting in your slicer matches the actual diameter of your filament.
  3. Extruder Calibration: Check your extruder steps/mm to ensure it is pushing out the correct amount of filament. You can adjust this in the printer settings or directly on the printer.
  4. Print Speed and Temperature: Adjusting the print speed and temperature can help with thin walls. Consider slowing down the print speed and increasing the temperature slightly within the recommended range for your filament.
  5. Wall Thickness: Ensure the wall thickness setting in your slicer is appropriate for the model. Increasing t...
