#CADing custom mount for car speakers

I'm extremely new to Fusion and CAD software in general. Have used Blender in the past though.
I'm attempting to design a custom mount for aftermarket speakers for my car.
I'd like some assistance in how I'd go about making this model in Autodesk Fusion.

The OEM car speaker is mounted via 3 "ears". Image attached of the OEM car speaker.
This mounting needs to be adapted to the more regular aftermarket circular ring with screw holes around it.
Attached is a sketch I made to try and demonstrate what I want. The aftermarket mounting part needs to be elevated, this is so there is room for the screws to go through and to reduce the Z-depth into the car door.
Because this is mounting literal vibrating parts, it needs to be strong and rigid, so in my sketch, I proposed these 45 degree supports, one on each side of each ear, and around the inner bit.

To design a custom mount for aftermarket speakers in Autodesk Fusion 360, you can follow these steps:

  1. Import or create a sketch of the OEM car speaker and the aftermarket speaker mount.
  2. Create a new design in Fusion 360 and start a new sketch on the XY plane.
  3. Use the sketch tools to draw the outline of the mounting adapter based on the sketch you provided.
  4. Extrude the sketch to the desired thickness to create the base of the mount.
  5. Add 45-degree supports around the ears and inner area for strength and rigidity.
  6. Add the necessary holes for screw mounting using the hole tool.
  7. Check the design for any interferences and make adjustments as needed.
  8. Once you are satisfied with the design, export it for 3D printing.

Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance or encounter any issues during the design process. Good luck with your project!

then some extrude and chamfer tool to finish it

#

as well blue lines = bad, can move in unpredictable ways, dimension/constrain them better

#

(i might be in dark mode so they might be dark lines in white)

this is a scan

#

i traced round it on paper and scanned it in

north stump

you can import it as a canvas for reference, but nothings gonna beat a caliper measurement

earnest vapor
#

I have a caliper too, it's only 150mm one though and these speakers have a diameter of roughly 165mm

north stump

that an important dimension other than can clear the hole? could use a ruler and add a bit add clearance

i can do test prints to get dims right its no problem: my main issue is using the CAD software. All I've ever done is extrude a ring sketch. My main questions are:

  • how do I model those "ears", the radius of them needs to be exactly right as any bigger it will hit nearby parts in the car.
  • how do I make the tube sorta part (see sketch), it goes up on a wall
  • how do I add those 45 degree supports
#

I've got the exact diameters of the aftermarket speaker ring, so it needs a wall on the outer edge down, then those 3 ears, and the supports

ears i would do something like

#

tube thing?

#

and if you do the 2 extrudes that touch you can chamfer

#

(that is 45 degrees, hard to show)

as in, how did you do it

north stump
#

still not clear on the tube part, but the ears 3 circles, each tangent constrained, and dimensioned

earnest vapor
#

this image i found on google helps me explain it.
it's opposite here because the inner part goes back rather than forward and there are 4 ears instead of 3, but this kinda thing

north stump
#

can you draw an arrow or something?

#

windows snipping tool

#

like this ear?

earnest vapor
#

this is what i mean by tube

#

the ears aren't right here, the one on my sketch is what im after

#

but it gives a general idea of what i'm after

north stump
#

you can make a new sketch off the top round and add more circles to extrude

earnest vapor
#

Genuinely would you be able to do this for me if I PayPaled you or something because I don't think I'm able to do this at my beginner level

north stump
#

id be too much a perfectionist, asking for at least 10 dimensions already, and thats just the base level

#

CAD isnt that hard, just scarry at the start

earnest vapor
#

Problem is your explanations don't really make sense because you're explaining what to do and not how to do it lmao

if you can make a brik then thats like 80% of your project

#

rest is making the first sketch match

Here's what I have so far. This ring matches the ring I need to mount the aftermarket speaker to. I have not yet added screw holes.

With the edge that is highlighted, i need to extrude down to make that tube I'm referring to. This can't extrude the whole thickness of the ring, just a few mm wall like 3.5mm. Then connected to the end of that tube, are the ears.
