Heyho. My GF asked me to print some Horns for a costume shes currently working on, and I am totally out of my league..

I have STLs here, where it says that i should print it with a few walls and mostly hollow to reduce weight, but how should this work? My printer will never be able to print the Cover without support in the inner livings of the object? Or am i missing something?

Thanks for some help!

Hey there! To print a hollow object with walls, you can set the number of walls in your slicer software. This will create multiple perimeter layers around the hollow part of the object without filling it completely. To address the issue of supports in the inner areas, you can utilize the "Ironing" feature in some slicing software to help smooth out the top layer of the print without fully filling it. Additionally, adjusting the print orientation and adding support structures strategically can help with overhangs and inner support needs. Good luck with your GF's costume project!

"mostly hollow" probably means with a low infill %, maybe 10 or 5. you can test it by setting those values then moving the model down until just the top few layers are showing, then slice and print it so you don't have to test it on a whole piece

Won’t be as dense as normal consistent infill since adaptive cubic leaves out some unnecessary parts of the infill

#

Also an easy way you can view the overhang of your print is to open the “support painting” tool and use the slider to view overhang angle

As wolf mentioned, printers can usually handle anything up to 45 degrees with no issue

If you’re worried you can also reduce the layer height to increase the ability to print overhangs
