I hadn't gotten help in #✅|help-quick-questions so i moved here.

Hi, i got a hotend/nozzle (I'm not sure 100%, just look at the photo) replacement, but there's a rod that sticks out which is also shorter than the tube that connected my old hot end to the extruder, will this be an issue or should i just assemble it without the tube and expect it to work?

AI Help

It sounds like you are describing a Bowden tube that connects the hotend nozzle to the extruder. If the new hotend has a shorter rod that sticks out compared to your old one, you may need a shorter Bowden tube to fit properly. Make sure the length of the Bowden tube matches the distance between the hotend and the extruder. You can try assembling it without the tube to see if it works, but it's important to ensure proper alignment and feeding of the filament into the hotend.

This is the image

The nozzle and the white tube are seperate but they go in place when it's all assembled

I always thought a bowden tube goes outside of the extruder, huh? 🤨

i dont think i can see an issue in this image? if you remove the ptfe tube from your old/current nozzle, are you saying the metal tube is shorter than the one on the new nozzle?

There's technically 3 parts

#

The new nozzle has a rod that I don't know if i can take off

#

You can see that the green part (forgot to put a C) is shorter than A+B

#

I'm just not sure if that's a problem or not, it may fit in the extruder but i don't wanna clog my printer yet again

whats the name of your new hotend? perhaps we can have a look at the manufacturer recommendations

Oh there's a link for an installation guide that was covered up by a sticker

#

I'll go visit it

good design hahah

river wasp
#

It says "k1-flagship-series" in the name

#

I wonder if i got the wrong hot end

river wasp
#

Oh good

#

Ok, I'll try to assemble it as shown in the video

#

Thanks for the help

neon storm

good luck

I'll keep the thread open for a while in case i have more questions

#

Then I'll close it

neon storm
#

itll automatically close in an hour but you can reopen it later if need be

river wasp
#

Maybe I'm paranoid, but is it supposed to have so much free room? I know it'll center itself when i screw it in but the extra space around it makes me anxious that filament will find its way there somehow

#

I've asked an AI and apparently that does cause issues

#

Damnn

#

@neon storm do you think this is a problem? The site i bought it from has no mention of heat sink diameters or anything and there's only 5 star reviews (about 50 of them). Idk if to go with it or look for a solution

#

Ok, good to know it can't go any worse than it has up to this point

#

I'll close this thread then. If i have any issues later I'll make a new one

#

Thanks again!

neon storm
#

i hope it works first try

river wasp
#

Turns out there can't be a first try

#

But i already assembled the nozzle, so i can't even return it -_-
It would be much easier if there was more information about compatibility. It's not immediately clear. Even AI got it wrong and I'm assuming it's searched the internet for an answer

#

There is a gap between the extruder and the heat sink

#

Unless it's not an issue that there is a gap

#

But it feels like super risky

neon storm

"Even AI got it wrong" AI usually gets most things wrong with or without searching the internet, your only option when looking for knowledge and not clear cut basic answers is to keyword search and look for information organically

Ok i figured something out, I'll try a test print
