Based on your description, it sounds like the issue may be related to the modifications made to the original STL file. Without seeing the attached files, it's a bit challenging to provide specific advice. However, a couple of things you can try are:

  1. Check the STL file in a 3D model viewer to ensure that there are no errors or gaps in the mesh.

  2. Make sure that the model is manifold, meaning all surfaces should be connected without any gaps or overlapping geometry.

  3. Use slicing software to analyze the model and see how it will be printed layer by layer. This can help identify any issues with the model that may be causing the problem.

If you continue to experience issues, feel free to provide more details or reach out to the 3D printing community for further assistance.

@indigo imp does your slicer do different colours for different parts of the print? Eg. Red for outer layers, green for supports, etc.

Which hole is being filled in?

it supposed to be a cap and the middle of the model is being filled

so its just a solid piece

Does it happen when the hole is at the top?

when i slice the model it's filled in when its in the default rotation and when i flip it so the hole is up

this is usually due to non manifold edges (cura has that the warning turned off by default)...but in this case the normals are backwards (shows up as bad contiguous egdes.)

heres how you can fix it.

theres simpler way in the same menu as well, select all the mesh and "recalculate outside"
and hopefully that fixes it.

try 3d print toolbox to help you find these ones! they are a little tricky
