#Lines coming out of my print preview in Cura

Has anyone seen this before? I haven't changed any settings and this is the same STL I've been trying to print for the last few days. I've quit and reopened Cura, and reloaded the object into Cura, but after every slice it previews these lines coming out of the print?

It sounds like you are experiencing a problem with the STL file or slicing settings. This issue could be caused by a problem with the mesh in the STL file, such as non-manifold geometry. Try repairing the STL file using a tool like Meshmixer or checking your slicing settings in Cura to ensure there are no anomalies. Double-check for any unintended settings changes or issues with the model itself.

Restarting my computer fixed it. Strange...

What is Manifold Geometry
It is important that a model's mesh is manifold in order for a slicer to accurately determine where to generate a tool path to print plastic and where not to.

In relation to 3d printing a model is manifold when you could imagine filling the entire internal volume with water from one source. In practice this means that the model mesh has one single shell with no other shells that overlap or intersect with one another and the shell has no holes in it and the mesh has no flipped normals. You can think of a shell like that of an egg shell, it encloses a single volume of space. If there is more than one shell then filling any one shell the fluid cannot reach the other shells. If shells are nested within one another completely then the volume between the two shells can be filled. If shells partly overlap then only some of the volume of one or both of the shells can be filled. If shells have holes or flipped normals then the volume will leak water.

This service offers a free 3d model repair tools, to fix non-manifold objects (objects with tiny gaps or reversed faces):

The software Microsoft 3D Builder, Orca Slicer and Prusa Slicer can also attempt to repair a model.
