#Extrusion issues on random layers

Hello, I am new to the server and I’ve been trying to get my Ender 3 Pro working to how it used to be, and I have an odd error that nobody has an answer for on other sources.

This is a lid to my DE razor case I printed after I fixed the E-steps, on the middle layers you can see some over extrusion and rough surfaces. After these specific layers it seemingly went back to normal.
Can anyone give me some help on what could be happening?

It sounds like you may be experiencing adhesion issues or improper layer adhesion. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and improve the print quality:

  1. Check and adjust your nozzle temperature and filament settings to ensure they are correct for your filament type.
  2. Make sure your print bed is leveled properly to improve adhesion.
  3. Check your filament diameter settings in your slicer software to ensure it matches the actual filament diameter.
  4. Clean your printer nozzle to prevent any clogs that may be affecting extrusion.

If you have already tried these steps and are still experiencing issues, you may also want to consider checking your filament quality, adjusting print speed, or performing a cold pull to clean the nozzle further.

Update: I have printed a calibration cube, and I have noticed that it is not only shorter than 20mm, but it isn’t moving up on the same layers the previous print was doing. Is this possibly something to do with the Z-axis rod or the nut it rids in to move the extruder up?

Honestly this is a bit baffling. I think you're right to suspect the z-axis rod since this issue is occurring on different models but at the same height.

No visual anomalies on the z-axis rod itself?

Does the bed move through the entire z-height of your build volume with ease and no weird sounds?

If yes to both my next suggestion is looking at the gcode to make sure the z coordinate is actually moving up on each layer.
