If I print with retraction on about 9 minutes in to the print the filament starts going up and down and not coming out of the nozzle and the head is still moving around but if I print with retraction off it works fine

AI Help

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues with your retraction settings. The filament going up and down without coming out of the nozzle could be due to inconsistent retraction settings causing the filament to get stuck or clog in the hotend.

I recommend checking and adjusting your retraction settings, including the distance and speed, to ensure they are optimized for your specific filament and printer setup. You may also want to inspect the hotend for any potential clogs or other issues that could be affecting filament flow.

Additionally, make sure your filament is loaded properly and there are no obstructions in the filament path that could be causing the issue. Experiment with different retraction settings and observe the print to see if the issue improves.

Iirc the v3 ke is direct drive, and that is way too much retraction for a direct drive

#

Most direct drive systems do a max of like 2.5 to 3mm retraction

#

Do a retraction tower for your chosen filament and do a range of 0.1 to 2mm. Likely will land in the ~0.8mm range for pla it looks like
