#Building my first 3d printer with scraps

That sounds like an interesting project! Feel free to share the pictures and more information about your DIY 3D printer build, and I'd be happy to provide guidance or assistance.
what i have so far.
1x frame with bed of a neptune 2
a lot of fans of differend sizes
2x
a metalic carrage because the carrage was destroyed.
a mosquitto clone hotend
an orbiter 2.0
a serpa ultra heavy
a fly dp5
a klicky
the original motherboard and screen of the neptune
a volcano hotend
a lot of mk8s
a lot of shitty old extruders.
acouple of fillament sensors made by elegoo
- other parts
ill need to know if some of those can be used to my project or just buy new parts
or if its even possible to build a printer of my own
you could just put in some of the extruders and make a modded neptune work
im not too experienced in this though so
yeah probably
you could make your own printer by just getting extrusions and the belts you need
maybe a core xy
i see
@cold cargo @proper crater
any idea what should i start with? should i use this frame or make another one?
depends what printer u want
bedslinger you basically have one
just missing parts
id say build around the size of your bed and maybe find conversions that can use it
and find which parts u can reuse in each scenario then choose
i see
thats what id do
yeah it really depends what you want
that makes sense. so i should use the shell of the neptune 2, i was kinda asking about this shell because its REALLY limiting you on the upgrades you can do
nooo
only if you want to
if you use the shell you have like 70% of the parts id say
but removing the frame just lets u go to core xy etc
extrusions are pretty cheap haha
you could always print it like the t250
but extrusions i heard are cheap itself
i can print the extrusions?
no
well
some people just print frames
you dont HAVE to use extrusions but they are pretty reasonable for price and strong as hell
for an x y can i use the bed also or does it have to be a different bed
you could use it ye
ive seen many core xy reuse the ender 3 bed
should in theory work i think
do you belive that the core xy will be alot harder to make to an unexperienced person like me than a bedslinger?
i would think so
since you already have the frame for the bedslinger itll be harder either way
like he said, its up to what you want
to be honest i wanna build a core xy but because i am unexperienced i feel like i should settle for something smaller until i gain the experience for something better
up to you
do you have a working printer?
i have an sv06 a q1p and a couple of others
never made my own printer before, and most i had to do for the rest ware change a hotend
yes
is q1p core xy?
oh q1 pro
im stupid lol
then by ur use on both ur printers decide what u want
u could even go for something different but idk much about those
no pls
i was giving him an option
lol
but aluminum extrusions are cheap af
extrusions are quite cheap
ye
you can reuse some of the ones from your Neptune if you design right
its better to tell someone of all options than to gatekeep one for no reason
and ye definitely
they are so cheap id say to NOT design around that
the problem is that i dont have toold to drill holes and such
and no experience at all
i can always buy a drill but ill probably fuck it up
no makerspace?
no sadly
i mean you have all the time in the world as you have 2+ working printers
check nearby
We have them but they are few and far usually
will it be wise for me to buy a broken down tronxy 600x600 and just use that as base?
or it would still be better to make my own
600x600 may be too big to get a nice printer that pushes out parts ngl
unsure youd have to look
they only sell frames for something named VZBOT
i dont think that this is gonna work as those frame sets are 100 bucks and they are not a part of a well known printer that would be documented
voron 2.4 would work but bed size may not
if u go core XY itll prob be a custom build
i really wanna stick with something that is well documented
should i go for the voron 2.4?
but wont that be super expensive to finish?
i heard those printers go for like 2k
may not be the correct bed size too
for that ur gonna have to ask someone more experienced
ok, i think we started this kinda wrong XD
i think i should have started by asking a well documented build that is compatable with some of the parts i have to save some money
and go from there
yeah
i mean
extruder should be fine to reuse
motherboard i think fine
fans are all fine, could make double fan build
if you got the parts for free then could sell them and get parts for the build but idk
i live in bulgaria and people dont really care for printers, its practically imposible to sell parts here
but i can always buy new ones 😄
ah ok 🤣
fair
did u buy all of the parts tho or get for free out of curiousity
