Hello! I am looking to create a machine that can recycle my robotic team's exsta filament (supports, failed prints, tests, etc.)!

I need help understanding how we can do this as we don't have direct access to a CNC machine, nor much of a budget. Our printer also isn't able to print materials that might be useful in the build suck as nylon and tpu. Also, shipping is an issue so sadly we are also limited by these means.

The goals of the machine are to recycle both used filament and plastic waste such as bottles. While mainly used for PLA, we aim for recycling other plastics such as ABS, PET, HDPE, and more!

I only started the project but I'd love to hear from anyone with ideas! I looked up many different projects already done online but I feel lost in all the information. Feel free to contact me via dms or the forum if you are interested in helping!

It's great to hear about your initiative to recycle filament and plastic waste for your robotic team! Unfortunately, designing a machine to recycle various plastics, including PLA, ABS, PET, HDPE, and more, without a CNC machine, limited budget, restricted access to certain materials, and shipping constraints can be a significant challenge.

However, you can consider looking into alternative methods such as using a filament extruder that repurposes old filament or plastic pellets into new filament. There are DIY filament extruder projects available online that might suit your requirements.

Additionally, exploring local resources such as maker spaces, community workshops, or educational institutions may provide access to tools and expertise that can help you with your project. Collaborating with individuals who have experience in recycling plastics or 3D printing can also offer valuable insights.
