#Poop at that start of every line

I must be missing something simple I am sure I need a second pair of eyeballs to help me out..
I switched printer hotend to a rapido v2 and added beacon probe.. I am using a 0.5 mm high-flow nozzle on a VZBot and getting a small blob or “poop” at the start of every line — especially visible on outer walls. I’ve already tried the usual fixes:
• Wipe while retracting ✅
• Retraction: 1.4 mm at 35 mm/s
• Deretraction speed matches (35 mm/s)
• Retraction extra length: 0
• Restart extra length: -0.05 mm
• Lift height: 0.2 mm
• Seam position: Aligned
• First layer extrusion width: 0.63 mm
• Perimeter extrusion: 0.68 mm

Still getting the blob. It looks like pressure is building up before the move and oozing out right as the nozzle starts.

Any other tuning tips? Should I enable coasting? Switch seam to random during tuning? Print speed is moderate (not maxing it out yet), and I’m using PLA around 205°C. Slicer is prusa

and thanks in advance! For your help!

AI Help

It sounds like you have already tried several troubleshooting steps to address the blob issue. Since you have experimented with retraction settings and other parameters without success, enabling coasting or switching the seam to random could potentially help alleviate the issue.

Coasting can help by allowing the pressure to release before the move, reducing the likelihood of oozing. You can try enabling coasting in your slicer settings and adjusting the coasting distance to see if it improves the print quality.

Additionally, switching the seam to random can distribute any imperfections caused by starting points more evenly across the print, potentially reducing the visibility of the blob on outer walls.

Experimenting with these settings, one at a time, and performing test prints can help you determine the most effective solution for your specific setup. Good luck with your tuning, and I hope these suggestions help improve your print quality!

whats your PA

#

also make sure this is 0 (printers -> extruder 1)

Have you tried any other spools of filament?

#

Also i'm aware you can go thick, but have you tried doing something like a 0.52mm line width instead of 0.63?

∆ and did you type it in correctly...
E.g. NOT 0.2 but instead 0.02

And it not the level it prints even with more space it is not ooze it squirts extra filament at the start of a new line.

Filament is dry?

If your direct drive, you can probs get away with a lower retraction maybe? Or enable wiping settings...

I don’t remember how low I started i may try 0 the issue is not oozing look at the video it is priming filament at each new line. I had same issue when had detractions to 0 also. Look when it is drawing lines it is fine on the right side of benchy but on left side when it starts something new it squirting not oozing .

ahh

#

@loud crest

#

so

#

do you run any post processing on your gcode

#

or

#

something

#

because

#

all e values are +2

#

g92 sets E to 0 position

#

Then

#

the next move command starts E at 2

#

so every time it does this it's extruding an extra 2mm of filament

#

so its not a hardware thing its the gcode

#

yes

#

i was about to try orca

dapper stone
#

good time to switch 😆

#

Uhhh oop that +2 is to make up the -2 retraction

loud crest
#

i never had a printing issue they i could not figure out till this one.

#

now i gotta learn orca

dapper stone
#

hmm

#

111 retracts e from the 33.4 on 110

#

then 112 and 113 reset (idk why two huh)

#

then 115 deretract

#

so

#

hm

loud crest
#

ok the only clue i have is i used to always base my config on prusa printer and just modify it to fit my need always worked.. so this time i think i based it on there core 1 since i am using a corexy printer.. mabe they added something hookey to it.

dapper stone
#

the speed of retraction doesn't change anything right

loud crest
#

but what you saying that 2mm extra certainly likke like that extra icing on the cake. that is squirting out.

dapper stone
#

the distances add up, i didn't see the retraction the first time i looked at this

loud crest
#

nope i wen cray with pressure advance too 80 i thin the last retract was like 45

dapper stone
#

what about retract speed of smth rly slow like 20

loud crest
#

we let me set up orca or another slicer and see what happens

#

which slicer do you use?

dapper stone
loud crest
#

i was gonna take retact to 0

#

ok so ther happens to be a close vzbot config anything i should look out for?

#

what printer are you using?

#

the ony diff is the config is for awd drive i have not set that up yet.

dapper stone
#

i dont have a vz but i do have a corexy i built so idk what you should look out for but it'll probably be fine

loud crest
#

yep i just sent it. to printer i will give a few... thanks for the eyeballs!

#

yea i only ever had 1 printer that was kit my prusa mk2 started building them since 2011 from scratch.. but now with printer like bamboo i dont know anymore

#

well was printing a little too fast and skipping

#

lol i should have checked this

#

say i know we do not have the same printer but could i use you orc config to compare speed etc ?

dapper stone
#

my speed is diabolical lol

#

but sure

i got some new ldo 2504

#

i got em at a good price like 22. per

#

AWD?

#

I wanna point to rapido v2 it was all good till I switch to it but other people don’t seem to have a issue with this hot end

loud crest
#

Hmm 0 retract seem to have better results
