When using scarf seams, I get blobbing or loose filament sticking out on the inner side at the very start of each perimeter, and ugly grooves on the outer side.

I've tried adjusting various settings but it's not going away. What might be the issue? Any suggestions are welcome.

The issues you are experiencing with scarf seams can be caused by several factors such as retraction settings, print speed, and cooling.

Double-check your retraction settings to ensure they are correctly adjusted to reduce stringing and blobbing. Additionally, adjusting the print speed and increasing cooling can help improve the overall finish of the print. Consider experimenting with these settings to find the optimal configuration that works best for your specific printer and filament.

The ugly blobbing or loose filament on the inside perimeter is not really an issue as that will be hidden inside of whatever I'm printing, but the grooves on the outside perimeter is something that I want to fix

After some more testing it happens with random seams in general, it's not a scarf problem

#

it happens when retracting or deretracting, creating a groove that runs along the entire perimeter until it meets a corner

#

better picture to illustrate the problem

Tune your retractions then

Trust me I've tried.

Marking as solved, because reverting back to defaults based on the Prusa MK3.5 profiles fixed it
