Printer: Ender 3 V2. 4.2.2
Mods: Official CR Touch. Minimus Hotend ducts with upgraded fans.
Firmware: MRiscoC 2024
TL;DR: Whats the proper way to enable the CR-Touch on my Ender 3 V2 (MriscoC firmware) in my Gcode to do a FULL 25 point mesh bed level at the beginning of every print?

To long, did read:
I just installed a CR touch on my Ender 3 V2. I am editing my Cura Slicer printer settings to "enable" the the bed level probe through gCode. When I ONLY put in G29 after the G28 line, nothing happens. (I did confirm it saved correctly; when viewing the raw GCode its there). I googled it and someone on GitHub said "When using UBL you need to use 'G29 P1' to build the mesh". After reading the documentation and changing my Cura Printer gCode settings to G29 P1, the printer does a 25 point mesh. But reading the documentation, i now have more questions. AFTER it does the G29 P1 gcode and does mesh routine, is it actually USING the mesh it created? Other people on the internet who are not mentioning G29 P1 , say that they use G29 L0, G29 F10, G29 J, G29 A to activate bed levling. Even more other people say that using G29 alone is enough.. Examples from the official documentation dont say whether i should or shouldnt, but many of their examples DO use G29 A. Even more differenter people just use G29 with nothing else.

My question is: What's the proper way to enable the CR-Touch on my Ender 3 V2 (MriscoC firmware) in my Gcode to do a FULL 25 point mesh bed level at the beginning of every print, and use that new mesh data?

AI Help

To enable the CR-Touch on your Ender 3 V2 with the MRiscoC firmware for a full 25 point mesh bed leveling at the beginning of every print, you can use the following G-code sequence:

  1. After the G28 line (to home all axes), include G29 P1 to initiate the 25 point mesh bed leveling procedure.
  2. To utilize the newly created mesh data, you can follow up with G29 T to load the mesh leveling data. This ensures that the printer applies the mesh corrections during printing.

Using these commands in sequence should enable your printer to perform the full mesh bed leveling procedure and use the resulting data for improved print quality. Remember to save the updated G-code settings in your slicing software such as Cura.

Avoid other variations or additional commands unless specified in the MRiscoC firmware documentation for your specific printer configuration.

That AI thing brings even more questions. No one mentioned G29 Tbefore. and the official documentation makes it seem like G29 T just prints the mesh out to the screen for ME to read it. but I want the printer to read it. 🤔

#

And without the G29 T, if my reading is right, my printer already shows a cute matrix of the 25 point mesh, with all the values and the option to "Save" or "Continue", which is the same screen as when I navigate the user interface while NOT printing, and run a mesh level wizard.

yeah, think you need the G29 P1 with UBL, that post is for the more normal types of leveling

#

but usualy you pick one or the other correct

unique folio
#

I didnt think of this before, but if i drastically put the bed tram out of whack, I can visually see if the leveling is working 😅

do you still think I need G29 P1 and M420?

id check with just the G29 P1 and check the z couplers for movement

#

i just threw in the M420 as a just in case it doesnt

unique folio
#

z couplers? like the stepper motor? feel it for movement?

sturdy nebula
#

this, easer to tell when thats spinning since there is a line already on it

unique folio
#

oh ok yeah. rest my finger up against that.

#

oh its totally moving. so somethings working!

sturdy nebula
#

other things to check if its still not doing good meshing is checking the x gantry for level and probe offsets are right

unique folio
#

Ok, I can now confirm that G29 P1 alone is NOT applying the mesh. Its just taking the mesh and doing nothing with it.

all in one line, or in 2 seperate lines?

sturdy nebula
#

one line, should Activate the mesh

#

why is UBL like this

unique folio
#

alright, giving this a try.

that didnt work. im gonna try:

G29 P1 ;
G29 A;

Then im gonna try after that:

G29 L0 ; Load Mesh stored in Slot 0
G29 F10 ; Set fade height
G29 J ; Check bed tilt at 3 points and adjust mesh accordingly
G29 A ; enable leveling

#

G29 P1 ;
G29 A;
seems to have worked. doing more testing to confirm.
