As the title states, Ive just began my journey. I currently have an Ender 5 Pro that works well but I still barely have an idea what I'm doing, there's a lot I've learned on youtube but case by case basis only goes so far from youtube videos, Ive gotten fairly good with leveling the bed but it seems extremely temperamental with just the 4 screws in the corners and I just cant seem to get everywhere on the bed happy at once. If anyone has any tips or is willing to hop on a VC and talk through some other problems and tips on how to progress from here. Mainly printing in PLA and have a roll of Silk PLA I've been experimenting with but im having stringing problems and little (for lack of a better word) nubs appearing when printing multiple pieces at once or printing with supports. I haven't yet messed with retraction yet but thats going to be the next step.

On a completely different note, I dont think my printer has ever been updated either (bought it off my sibling) and its currently on firmware 1.1.6.3. Do I need to update it? if so whats the best way to go about that

It's great to hear that you're starting your 3D printing journey with an Ender 5 Pro! Here are some tips to help you with bed leveling and your filament stringing and nubs issues:

  1. Bed Leveling: If you're having trouble getting the entire bed level, you might want to consider upgrading to a manual mesh bed leveling system like Manual Mesh Bed Leveling or installing Automatic Bed Leveling. These can help compensate for any unevenness in the bed.

  2. Filament Stringing and Nubs: Stringing issues are often related to retraction settings. You mentioned you haven't adjusted retraction yet, so that would be a good next step. Start by gradually increasing the retraction distance in your slicer settings and see if it helps reduce the stringing. Additionally, optimizing print temperature for your Silk PLA filament can also help reduce stringing.

Regarding firmware updates, it's generally a good idea to keep your printer's firmware up to date, as updates can bring improvem...
