i setup klipper on my printer and for some reason it takes about 1-3 minutes to start heating my hotend/bed, then shoots way above my set temprature, then completly stops heating.
i have no idea whats causing this. i used to run marlin and everything worked fine so i don't think its a board or wiring issue.

list of problems:

  • heaters only sometimes heat up
  • when they do, they take a long time to begin heating
  • if they heat, they heat extremely fast and overshoot, then randomly stop heating. the graph still says that its trying to heat. (in the picture i manually shutoff the heater, but itll stay red forever normally)
  • after this happens, they refuse to heat again. the only way to get them to heat again is to shutoff my printer and wait 10 minutes.

printer is a ender 3 v2 with an skr mini e3 v3, rp zero 2w, and the mellow microswiss allmetal clone hotend.
i checked the wiring and everything looks fine.

It sounds like you may have a problem with the PID settings of your hotend and bed. This can cause issues with heating up too quickly, overshooting the target temperature, and then stopping heating altogether.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

  1. Check and adjust the PID settings for both the hotend and bed in your firmware. You may need to run a PID autotune to get the correct values.
  2. Make sure your heating elements are properly connected and not damaged.
  3. Ensure there are no loose connections or damaged wires that could be affecting the heating elements.
  4. Check the power supply to make sure it is providing consistent power to the heating elements.

If you are not comfortable adjusting firmware settings, it may be helpful to reach out to the manufacturer or a professional for further assistance.
