Hello all,
I have been dealing with a stringing issue when running a retraction test print that has a cylinder and a cone. I have lowered the pla temp as much as it can go (180) that it will extrude at. (Just opened sealed matterhackers package today). I have set retraction to 2mm and the retraction speed to 70mm/s. Is there anything else I am missing?

Hello! It sounds like you've already taken some good steps to address the stringing issue. You may want to also try increasing the retraction distance a bit more, maybe to 4mm, and lowering the retraction speed to around 40-50mm/s. Additionally, check your print cooling settings to make sure it's adequate, as well as ensuring that your nozzle isn't clogged or dirty. Sometimes a cold pull can help clean out any blockages. If the issue persists, you could also try adjusting your travel speed to reduce the risk of oozing. Hope this helps!

- you can dry your pla. (New doesnt = dry) 😕
- turn on wipe after retract.
- see if your slicer supports combing (or equivalent)
- small amount of wispy strings is ok.
- what printer? (Retraction is higher if bowden tube)
Mk3s+ Direct Drive Extruder. I got this filament today from Matterhackers. What does combing do?
Here are my options for the extruder. Not sure if any of these are combing.
Prusa slicer ok.
It'll be called something else.

I suppose the title says it all.... I was using Cura and now PrusaSlicer. Although I know that in PrusaSlicer, combing = "avoid crossing parameter", I...
Okay I found the retract when corssing perimeters but I don't see the only lift when needed option in my infill settings or in search bar.
Is there any advanced options switch?
I do have a feature called ramping lift thought.
I have UI set to Export mode (highest one)
For the retract before wipe setting does that do a % of the 2mm I put in for retraction before it wipes?
I turned on "only retract when crossing perimeters" and that seem to do the trick.
