i was installing a direct drive on my ender 5 plus, and for some reason everybody said the heat block needs to be cold, i only found it it was supposed to be heated AFTER my thermistor snapped because it was stuck (and trust me, i WAS being careful)
is it still fixable, or do i have to get a new one and is it a pain to install? i cant find any info about it for my printer

It is still possible to fix a snapped thermistor, but it can be somewhat tricky. You will need to carefully remove the broken piece, make sure no debris is left in the heat block, and install a new thermistor. This process may vary depending on your specific printer model, so it's important to consult your printer's manual or seek guidance from the manufacturer. If you can't find information for your specific printer, you may need to reach out to the manufacturer or a 3D printing community for assistance. It's also a good idea to double-check the correct procedures to avoid similar issues in the future.

They're cheap, just replace.

Don't try to repair IMO. Especially if it broke at the block. Depending on how it broke you may be better off buying a new block too. Send pictures, they help with advice.

i already have a new block, thats why i had to remove the thing in the first place

#

i just need to know HOW i go about putting a new one in, and if it requires any soldering at all

#

because i do not wanna go out and buy soldering equipment for this one singular thing, never ever soldered before in my life either so i do not trust myself to not fuck it up

There's no soldering

#

They usually just sit inside or are held in my a screw.

It plugs into the board or it has screw terminals.

#

There are videos and documents on the internet that walk you through this

i'll just remove it now then i guess, and those who said that my heat block needs to be room temperature when doing this can burn in hell

I mean it typically does. You just had plastic or something work its way inside

#

They can't possibly know and can only give you information as a guide, not definitive information.

i love these printers and their ability to just nail my ass to the wall in the most unexpected and stupid ways

May even want to look into a not hotend for it. IIRC the ender 5 uses the red heatbreak creality hotend

mine doesnt

#

also a more stupid question, but is it possible to also buy just one singular replacement screw of a specific part? while i was struggling with that thermistor one of the screws that i need back later just vanished

#

i had them all in one safe place but nope its somehow gone

Yeah, I couldn't tell you what size you'd need, though.

its one of the ones that holds the fan assembly in place, 1cm long and needs a 2mm allen wrench

another thing that worries me is that i might end up one that is too short, considering its the same one that the ender 3 apparently uses and those are shorter

#

the one i have here is 140cm

#

i should probs also add that, before you send any links to places where i can buy the exact one i need, im not from the united states. so it either will take a billion years to arrive here or it doesn't ship here altogether
