Hi all... My printer has been printing for ages, ABS without problems, various shapes and sizes.
The attached is a design I did for my dagther. there will be 2 of them at the end of a 25mm pipe, basically Monkey King, Jorney to the West Staff, she's doing a Cosplay costume.

Attatched is the stl file and a screen shot of the slice on Prusa.
My printer is a Creality 5 Pro, some modes like E3D hot end and a direct drive setup, printing ABS.

It fails at various points in the print, pretty much sounding like a head strike., I have cleaned the vertical shafts making sure they not sticky... The print is driven from OctoPrint.
I can share the gcode, but it's 45Mb so rather share direct with anyone willing to have a look.
Design was done in Fusion360. Happy to share design.

Creality 5 Pro
E3D hot end and a direct drive
5% Inflill
FW is Cheetah 5.0
but as said, the printer has been printing perfectly for 2-3 yrs now

AI Help

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues related to your slicer settings or possibly Z-axis calibration. One of the important factors in successful 3D printing is ensuring that the model is sliced correctly. It's always useful to double-check the settings in your slicer, especially regarding layer height, print speed, and nozzle temperature for ABS filament.

If you're hearing sounds that resemble a head strike during the print, make sure to also check the levelness of your print bed and the alignment of the Z-axis to prevent any collisions during the print.

If you're able to share the specific sections of your G-code where the print is failing, I'd be happy to take a look and see if there are any issues that stand out. Feel free to share them, and I'll do my best to assist you in troubleshooting the problem further.

Additionally, if you're using modified hardware like the E3D hot end and direct drive setup, it's always good to ensure that all components are properly calibrat...

Try re-orientationg it maybe...

Turn it 90 degrees to the left.
And slow down the overall speed as it reaches the top....
