I just picked up some Elegoo rapid PETG for my Ender 3 V3 KE. The quality isn't great but I don't want to be quick to blame it on the filament itself.

Is there any pointers for this type of filament or settings/conditions I should be looking ti change?

The pictures of the two different color filaments shows Creality petg on the left and Elegoo on the right.

Thank you!

To improve the print quality of Elegoo Rapid PETG on your Ender 3 V3, here are some pointers and settings you can consider:

  1. Temperature: PETG typically prints well around 230-250°C. You can try different temperatures within this range to see what works best for your specific filament.

  2. Bed Temperature: PETG often adheres well at bed temperatures around 70-80°C. Ensure your bed is leveled properly and consider using adhesive like glue stick or a special PETG print bed surface.

  3. Print Speed: PETG tends to work better with lower print speeds compared to PLA. Try reducing your print speed to around 30-50mm/s to see if it improves the print quality.

  4. Cooling: PETG doesn't like to cool too quickly. Make sure your part cooling fan is set to around 20-50% to prevent warping.

  5. Retraction: Adjust your retraction settings to prevent stringing and oozing. Start with a retraction distance of 3-6mm and retraction speed around 40-60mm/s.

  6. Print Settings: ...

Update: I've ran the calibrations in orca slicer and the prints are looking better but I'm still having issues.

  • For less stringing in petg, you can turn on avoid crossing walls.
  • for the new petg, since it's labelled as rapid....would printing it faster help?
