Stringing with PETG can be a common issue, and it's often due to settings needing adjustment rather than a problem with the printer itself. Here are a few steps you can take to reduce stringing when printing with PETG:
-
Adjust Temperature: PETG typically prints well between 230-250°C. Try adjusting the temperature in this range to see if it helps reduce stringing.
-
Print Speed: Slow down the print speed, as PETG can be prone to stringing when printed too quickly. A speed of around 30-50 mm/s is a good starting point.
-
Retraction Settings: Make sure your retraction settings are optimized. A retraction distance of around 1-2mm and a retraction speed of 40-60mm/s are good starting points for PETG.
-
Cooling: PETG doesn't require as much cooling as PLA, so try reducing the cooling fan speed or turning it off completely to see if it helps.
-
Hot End: Ensure your hot end is clean and free of any residue that could cause issues with filament flow.

Petg Stringing:
- find the equivalent setting to combing.
- dry filament
- increase retraction distance (not sure how much, haven't tuned mine yet)
There should be a profile in the slicer for each kind of material. (Some may need tuning)
