#Weird Slicing Cause
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It sounds like the issue you are experiencing may be related to errors in the mesh of your model. This can happen when there are non-manifold edges, holes, or other geometry issues. To fix this, you can try the following:
- Check your model in Blender to ensure there are no visible gaps or issues.
- Use Blender's "Check for Problems" feature to identify and fix any potential mesh issues.
- Export your model in a different file format (such as STL) and try slicing it again to see if the issue persists.
If the problem still occurs, you may need to manually inspect and repair the mesh using modeling tools in Blender or another 3D modeling software.
I hope this helps you with resolving the missing chunks in your sliced models. Feel free to ask if you need further assistance!

Cura is screaming "this model has errors!!"
One way of fixing it is using 3dprint toolbox addon in blender.
Installing addon is easy + quick
You are mostly looking for:
- holes
- non-manifold edges
- intersecting faces.
However since this model looks high poly, there's probably more efficient ways.
If you choose to do it the blender way, through all the hours, you just gotta "never give it up"
What is Manifold Geometry
It is important that a model's mesh is manifold in order for a slicer to accurately determine where to generate a tool path to print plastic and where not to.
In relation to 3d printing a model is manifold when you could imagine filling the entire internal volume with water from one source. In practice this means that the model mesh has one single shell with no other shells that overlap or intersect with one another and the shell has no holes in it and the mesh has no flipped normals. You can think of a shell like that of an egg shell, it encloses a single volume of space. If there is more than one shell then filling any one shell the fluid cannot reach the other shells. If shells are nested within one another completely then the volume between the two shells can be filled. If shells partly overlap then only some of the volume of one or both of the shells can be filled. If shells have holes or flipped normals then the volume will leak water.
This service offers a free 3d model repair tools, to fix non-manifold objects (objects with tiny gaps or reversed faces):

The software Microsoft 3D Builder, Orca Slicer and Prusa Slicer can also attempt to repair a model.
