machine: Artillery Sidewinder X2 running latest klipper firmware on a Pi 3B+, about 450 print hours, only minor mods, second z-axis motor removed bc of bent axis
setup: prusaslicer, heavily modified profile, version is latest as flatpak on artix linux
issues observed: porous solid infill, reduced strength of parts, doesn't print infill properly, holes in top solid infill, nozzle scratching on part when printing infill, layer shifts for tall prints.
additional info:
when i start the z offset is just fine. for some reason the solid infill has a lot of tiny holes of varying sizes and orientations? as soon as it starts printing the second infill layer i can hear a scraping sound from the nozzle scraping on the part. in the places where the lines of my rectilinear infill meet, the part appears a lot higher than elsewhere. the rectilinear infill is sort of reduced into pillars connected rectilinearly with a stringy mess. some of these pillars get knocked over. perimeters and outer perimeters as well as top surfaces and first layer and bottom surfaces are perfectly fine. printed parts are very weak structurally. Top solid infill sags into the holes left by the whacky infill and creates voids too.

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!

It sounds like you may be experiencing a combination of issues that could be contributing to the poor print quality and structural weakness of your parts. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Porous solid infill: This could be due to under-extrusion. Make sure that your extruder is properly calibrated and that the filament diameter setting in your slicer matches the actual diameter of your filament.

  2. Nozzle scratching on part: The scraping sound you hear could be caused by the nozzle being too close to the part during infill printing. Try adjusting your Z offset slightly to increase the distance between the nozzle and the part.

  3. Infill not printing properly: The issues with the infill could be caused by inadequate cooling, incorrect extrusion multiplier, or improper infill settings in your slicer. Ensure that your cooling fan is working correctly, recalibrate your extrusion multiplier, and check your infill settings.
