A friend wants me to print this.
I might kill him.
Before I do and go to prison, tho, can I have some feedback on my slice? I decided to tilt it back a bit, cut it, add two thick dowels, and then add a loooot of grid supports in the hope of better bed adhesion. Is this a suitable strategy? (I'm aware that of the supports are unnecessary and removing them will be a bother)

It sounds like you have a thoughtful approach to supporting and printing the object with tilted orientation for better bed adhesion. The use of thick dowels and grid supports could indeed help with stability during printing. Just be sure to thoroughly check the model in your slicer to ensure there are no areas where excessive supports will be difficult to remove. Good luck with your project, and be sure to share the results with your friend!

Why not use tree supports
Those grid supports look like a pain to remove
Oh wait
You said that at the bottom
Mb
Uae tree supports on buildplate only to have any chance of having the tendrils survive. Looking at it it will have enough supports for proper first layer surface.
If you have general problems with bed adhesionb adress this problem first
Good point, i have no idea why i did it as grid supports
Thats definitely not the best model for FDM
FDM?
Is it a free model? (doubt it)
Yeah, he got it from cults3d
Fused Deposition Modeling = With Filament
Ah, yeahs
It printed well tho ^^ I’ll see if i can successfully remove the supports- If not i’ll do it again with tree supports, i tots forgot they were a thing lol
Sure, a block of supports with intermediate traces of model
. Good luck with the supports
That’s pretty much what it is lol
Huh, weird. The dowel holes have material in them
probably support material
Pfff xD
These tendrils look so weak🙈
