#P1S + AMS: Understanding actual practical footprint dimensions

I’m about to purchase this printer and I’m trying to make sure i understand the space required to actually use this. The following thread claims i need to account for 18x19x36 for the printer and AMS:

I’m hoping someone here actually has one though and can let me know how much actual practical space I need in addition to that. For example: poop chute, cable clearance, etc.

Brand new to the hobby but also limited on possible storage locations so want to make sure I can support it correctly.

To ensure proper ventilation and accessibility, it's a good idea to have additional space around your 3D printer. While the dimensions of the printer and AMS given in the thread are essential for setup, it's recommended to have at least a foot of space on each side of the printer for easy access to controls, filament changes, and maintenance. Additionally, adequate cable clearance is important to avoid any potential snagging or strain on the cables. As a new hobbyist, creating a dedicated and organized workspace will also help streamline your 3D printing experience.

@alpine briar you need to factor in about 2-3 " on the sides and atleast 6" on the back

#

so add 50-76mm to the side dimensions, and poop chute is depending how big you print

#

back dimension add 150mm

#

as for the top?

#

are you going to run an AMS?

#

are you putting the AMS ontop of the printer?

Perfect - exactly what I was looking for. And yeah the plan was for the AMS to be on top

#

That Reddit thread claims 28” total when closed and 36” when open

#

look into AMS risers then

#

I have one

#

and ngl, i regret printing it, because it's like 2 spools worth of filament for the one i picked, and it doesn't really do what i wanted the way i wanted to

#

so pick your riser

#

and maybe even remix it to make sure its how you like

#

one sec

Mainly useful to let you have access to the top glass?

#

And wow yeah 2 spools is a lot to be unhappy with the result lol

On a related note - am I gunna be kicking myself for putting it in this cubby in the closet? If I need access to the sides or back I’ll have to pull it out…hopefully I don’t need to do that very often?

i have a closed magnetic box on the back of mine

#

i have to empty once or twice a week

#

you WILL need access to the back

#

if you're going to use a cubby like this..... you'll need to consider putting a Sliding platform with Drawer slides on the bottom for convenience

#

also DONT get the bambu anti vibration feet the suck ass

#

i am remixing my AMS riser to be taller, and i'm taking out the build plate slots

#

since i have a separate box for them that locks on the side of this riser

#

@alpine briar also FYI, thre isn't really any vents on the SIDE of the printer, but there are on the back IT NEEDS airflow

#

or you'll fry your electroncics

#

i hope this helped

#

just fyi, the cabinet i was building for my P1S was going to be 3 feet wide, byt 2.5 feet deep and 3 feet tall

#

now its' geetting expanded to 5 feet x 3 Feetx 3 feet and going to have 2 printers in there

#

open mesh on right side has Electronics ventillatino, Poop chute is next to that, the cvutout is where the Buffer for your AMS or multiple AMS goes, then the big hole is the exhaust fan for the chamber that has a carbon filter in it's path, but i wouldn't relly on it

#

those 2 square things are idler tension things, you can print covers,

@sudden jolt thanks a bunch this was super helpful

np,

if that sorts it for you don't forget to mark it completed
