#Hotend mess with molten filament

Hey all, I'm a super casual 3D printing user, which is why I went with the Bambu A1 Mini. It's been great so far, with amazing out-of-the-box results—until now. 😅
Sometimes in previous failing prints, failure detection kicked in and stopped the printer when needed. But this time, it kept going, relentlessly extruding filament into a big, messy blob around the hotend. When I noticed, I stopped the print right away.
After googling and chatting with ChatGPT, I followed the advice to heat up the nozzle and carefully pull the plastic out. It took quite a bit of force, and in the process, I noticed a cable got ripped out as well as what I assume is the thermistor.

So... how bad is this? 😬 What's the next step? Without precise temperature control, I don’t want to heat the nozzle again, but there’s still plastic everywhere. Do I need to replace parts, and if so, which ones? Also, is this a user error, or could it be a machine issue (it's still under warranty)?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

(I attached the stl of the print I tried to do)

It sounds like a challenging situation you're facing with your Bambu A1 Mini. Based on your description, it seems like the main issue is the extruder continuing to extrude filament even when the print failed, leading to a messy blob and the subsequent damage to the thermistor and cable when clearing out the nozzle.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Assess the Damage: It's unfortunate that the thermistor and cable got damaged. Without proper temperature control, printing might not be safe or reliable.

  2. Contact Customer Support: Since your printer is still under warranty, I recommend reaching out to Bambulab's customer support. Explain what happened, the issues you are facing, and inquire about possible solutions or replacement parts covered by the warranty.

  3. Replacement Parts: Based on your description, you may need to replace the damaged thermistor and cable. Bambulab or their customer support should be able to guide you on the specific parts needed and may ev...

I think you would need a new "heating assmebly" from bambu. I don't think you can replace the thermistors separetely. https://us.store.bambulab.com/collections/spare-parts-hotend-parts-a1-series/products/hotend-heating-assembly-a1-series

At least, not on the A1 series.

Obviously make sure the wires actually go to what you think it goes to.
