#hotend being annoying after pid tune
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Of course, I'm here to help! What do you need assistance with regarding 3D printing?
E3v2 mriscoc custom fw
Tz v6 2.0 hotend with some customizations
Doing this after a pid tune
This is before pid tune
Did you tune with the fan on or off
I have tried everything
Hitend fan on
Hotend fan off
Parts fan on/off
Have you been doing M500 after
Is the thermistor the same one used in a stock printer?
No, but i updated it in the fw
Honestly the speed it's heating seems too high to me
Almost like the thermistor is directly against the heater or something
It does heat rapidly at the start
I mean it's a bambu clone so it's close
Yeah but even 220 to 240 showed an instantaneous response
It should have some amount of delay
Let me take pic
But regardless, something is up with PID
Does Mrisoc have the option to use MPC temp control instead?
Wondering if it would be more stable with a higher powered hotend
I'm getting a 80w heater soon
It came with a 48w only
That's an insane increase in temp for just 48W
Like you said thermistor is close to the heater
Too close imo
Should I swap the side that the heater is on
If I knew much about that hotend I'd say yes but I really don't
But I bet that the thermistor location is hugely problematic
The heater is on the back side
So it's like .5mm away
At most
@half granite what side does the heater cart go on?
Mrisoc only uses MPC
They deprecated PID
Pls help I am begging you
That's friggin awesome
This is not your help forum.
That's the wrong post
I've been hijacked lol
And Derra does not take kindly to it.
Wait what's the difference between mpc and pid
One is dumb one is smart
It's whatever I'm more confused
Basically MPC is reactive to temperature fluctuations and does things based on a calculated model - it knows how much power the heater outputs, the heat capacity of the filament, the effects of cooling on the hotend when it's trying to heat
Model Predictive Control
If it doesn't have the right values for the heater it gets confused
Does it still use kp ki and kd values?
I don't believe so, it has different ones
Does that mean I need to update it in fw if I change the heater tpye?
Should have a config menu for it
Odd, mine still shows the pid values
Yep and it does auto tune with m303 commands
Then you're on Pid not MPC
Hmm
MPC autotune has its own menu
Let me scroll through fw in a bit
It can't
Well it can run PID for Bed I suppose
But MPC for hotend would remove your autotune menu for pid
What version?
And for what board
I looked up and I think most if not all use MPC
Newest as far as I know, and skr
Latest release
I think the SKR might be the only one that doesn't have MPC
And the S1 maybe?
I made custom
Aha
I'll see if I can enable it
I need to for my display type
You lost the display lottery?
Tjc display
Legit the e3v2 website says "not much is known about this display type"
Still don't know why everyone can't pid tune these hotends🤷. Use isolation and be done with it.
I think it's because of the proximity of thermistor to the heater
It heats the thermistor up way faster than it does the actual hotend
🤷
Is yours the $3 version? Wondering if it's just this one that is weird
I think it was 8€ with everything
the literal bambu hotend clone
black square heatsink
Ok @obsidian spruce i can enable mpc should i?
I would.
@obsidian spruce can you decipher some of this lol
Enable the autotune menu and then run the autotune
It so update those values
I have no idea what they would be for that hotend
I mean do I need to edit the mpc max or heater power
But basically heat capacity is how much heat the whole holds, the transfer coefficient is how fast it cools, responsiveness is the speed of which turning on the heater causes a change at the thermistor iirc
Oh no, 255 means max
Heater power yes
For the heater power do I change that to 48f
Cool
Unless the menu has the option to change after build, can't remember
Either way the other values will be calculated with an autotune
Do I want to run it with fans
I believe so, sorry I have not built it in a while
That's alright, I swapped the heater sode and it's heating a lot slower
So that's good
Still hits 285
Thank you so much, it heats smoothly and hits the temp I need
Sweet! Awesome to hear
Uhhh how do I close this
?solved
@obsidian spruce either you dont have permission to use ?solved or you're in the wrong channel!
Use ?help for a list of commands for which you have permission to use.
