I've been trying to get a first layer on the aluminum bed (plain and w/ gluestick) and the PLA and PETG just do not want to stick. I am using default settings from "custom printer" creation in PrusaSlicer, and the speed does seem pretty fast. Would slowing the 1st layer speed fix this issue or is there some other solution I should try?

Slowing down the first layer speed can help with adhesion issues. You can try reducing the first layer speed in your slicer settings to provide more time for the filament to adhere to the bed properly. Additionally, ensure that your bed is leveled correctly and the nozzle distance is set correctly for the first layer. Cleaning the bed thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol can also improve adhesion. If these steps do not solve the issue, consider adjusting the bed temperature for better adhesion.

the nozzle is level with the bed, the offset is pretty bang on.
but the printer bed is aluminum. I thought that there would be a pei plate as well, but apparently the aluminum is the bed. it took some sifting through videos for this printer to convince myself
