#The semi-bottom layers get squished.

This has been an issue for a while. Yesterday, I finally got around to doing some doing. Now, I have found, that increasing z-offset, as many suggested, did subdue the issue. However, through testing (Increasing z-offset to a slightly higher than usual, to the point where it barely sticks), logically the issue would be gone, and a different issue relating to too high z-offset would be present, however that was not the case.
It could be v-rollers, however upon checking when raising the tool head to 500mm (Past the ~2-3mm squish mark and eccentric nut tightening, but I tightened them when it was 0red and making sure the gantry didn't droop using a leveler, and making sure when I life one side of the gantry it didn't just go up on it's own; it lifted part of the printer with it (stiff ig). I have installed a 3d-printed motor spacer, which as far as I am aware hasn't fixed, I could try remove the spacer, or install a thicker spacer. Now, vefore installing klipper as well as a new heatbreak (irrelevant imo), New motor for the extruder and a duel drive bmg clone, as well a smoving to klipper, the issue started (I had some decent prints earlier before uograding, like a 50 cal and some other minor bullets). The issue isn't the worst, it doesn't fail prints, it just makes them a bit ugly.

I have roughly 4-5 hours to work on this issue from now on, and another 4-5 tommorow (till friday). My idea is it could be z-binding, however that doesn't make sense since I got decent prints almost before upgrading (Then I just stopped printing altogether until I upgraded to klipper + physical upgrades). As far as I'm aware, the blobs are only on the outside, as during printing they don't appear to be visible.

could be g code settings. Theoretically; but the filament useagle hasn't changed since I bought the printer.
Specs ig:
-Klipper
-Ender 3 pro
-.4mm nozzle
-Deafult speed within orca
-PETG - 235 (230 first) 85 bed, 30 fan. Off for first.

I will send photos shortly.

AI Help

It sounds like you have put a lot of effort into troubleshooting your printing issues. Since you have already adjusted the z-offset, checked the v-rollers, and made some upgrades to your printer, it might be worth looking into your slicer settings to ensure they are optimized for your current setup. Issues like z-binding or G-code settings could also be potential causes.

If you could provide some photos of the prints and any specific settings you are using in your slicer, that would be helpful in diagnosing the issue further. Additionally, make sure the filament is not old or exposed to moisture, as that can lead to print quality issues with PETG.

Feel free to share the photos and any additional details, and we can try to help you further troubleshoot the problem within the constraints of 3D printing.

I have counted almost 40 of the benches.

#

Update: I have found that when using my fancy little nob on the z-increase, there's a point where it becomes hard to rotate.

#

What could the cause be?

#

This could be smth, but the point wher eit becomes harder is above the error line

#

Mb for shit image quality, android n such

#

could be an issue, however is still a point of concern.

#

What should I do as my next course of action?

#

Here, you can observe when z-offset was too high.

#

The preoblem persisted, and wasn't fully mitigated. But hey atleasy I see the text now.

#

Kinda.

#

Idk.

brittle perch
#

Used to be this

sharp horizon
#

thats ender 3 quality right there!

#

points and laughs

#

oh so it got worse?

#

what changed to make it suddenly worse?

#

are we taking abuot just z offset right now?

brittle perch
#

It used to be that way

#

Until I adjusted the z offset

sharp horizon
#

the bottom grey benchy, looks a loooooooooooooooooooooot cleaner than the top dark grey benchy

brittle perch
#

Which helped reduce the issue

sharp horizon
#

reduce?

brittle perch
#

To test whether offset would fix

sharp horizon
#

so the issue isnt z offset?

brittle perch
#

There's something else though

sharp horizon
#

i didnt read the description it looks long and tedius to read im looking for a quick fix with minumum effort

sharp horizon
#

:D

brittle perch
#

I explained everything in the captions and text

#

Take a read if you want, it'll help you understand my position

sharp horizon
#

are we focusing on this for now? the ringing?

#

or thats later?

brittle perch
#

It's the layers beign squished

sharp horizon
#

soo can we run a 50x50 single layer square to determine z offset?

#

see how clean it is

brittle perch
brittle perch
#

As I tuned the z offset

sharp horizon
#

is that the same as this?

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

ughhhhhh

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

so ur 100% certain its not a cooling or temp issue before i read all this?

#

or speed

brittle perch
#

As I experimented with cooling and temp

#

Both worked fine before upgrades

#

And z-offset ain't the problem as 'However, through testing (Increasing z-offset to a slightly higher than usual, to the point where it barely sticks), logically the issue would be gone, and a different issue relating to too high z-offset would be present, however that was not the case. '

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

yeah idk what it is tbh. even after reading ur stuff

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

did u test this on other objects

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

perhaps maintain that angle on a print

brittle perch
#

I have printed an aperture science z-nob with similar 'blobbing'

#

It was essentially a cylinder

sharp horizon
#

so its not angle related?

#

overhang i mean

brittle perch
#

No.

#

The printer used to be able to print overhangs fine.

sharp horizon
#

its just towards the bed basically eveyrthing at that point there? does it always stop at that Z height?

brittle perch
#

Yea, once I set the z-offset to the ideal

#

I counted roughly 4 layers up

#

On most prints where the blobing happened

#

And the z offset reduced the height of the issue, but not changing the starting point

sharp horizon
#

have u tested this with pla or another filament?

brittle perch
#

I have a quite clean print with the same material, and settings, of a few bullets (Don't ask why)

sharp horizon
#

have u tried running factory settings from slicer?

#

or printing an old gcode file that worked before?

#

ender 3s are so frustrating to fix and diagnose. so many flaws.

#

and were positive its not overextrusion or anything like that?

brittle perch
brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

):

sharp horizon
brittle perch
#

If it was I'd be seeing it elsewhere on the print

sharp horizon
#

do u have a finished benchy photo

brittle perch
#

A friend of mine uhh. Did a durability test

sharp horizon
#

well take one!

#

u said u printed 40

brittle perch
#

By throwing it against a wall....

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

u sure its not PTFE related?

#

perhaps it degraded. suddenly causing the issue

#

but without seeing any possibility of stringing. i cant rule it out. since u only printed hulls and below

#

maybe a hotend gap. altrhough if u didnt change the nozzle or mess with the hotend lately then i dont think it is but then it could be the ptfe that degraded causing a simliar issue.

brittle perch
#

If it where PTFE related, the problem would be persistant across the print

#

I have a print I made earlier this week

#

Didn't finish cuz I yanked the cord on accident

sharp horizon
#

thats a stringy mess but yeah

#

i imagine it would

#

still idk what else to suggest

brittle perch
#

Z-screw binding/ motor spacing

sharp horizon
#

i would but that print doesnt have iut

#

clean around at same layers for benchy

#

so that should be ruled out yeah?

#

wouldnt effect one print and not another

brittle perch
#

Here's the finished print

sharp horizon
#

ah this?

#

thought that was part of the print

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

but another angles does show it yeah

#

well check ur z rods

#

and motor spacing LOL

#

lube it

#

check for bent

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

binding

#

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

#

refund

#

sell

#

get a reliable printer

brittle perch
sharp horizon
#

easy fix!

#

well if u do find the solution or someone else figures it out. let me know im curious
