#my printer has no heated bed. Am I screwed?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with bed adhesion on your FlashForge Finder. Here are a few tips you can try:
- Ensure that your print bed is clean. Use isopropyl alcohol to wipe it down before each print.
- Level your print bed properly. If it's not level, the nozzle may be too far away from the bed, causing poor adhesion.
- Try different bed adhesion methods, such as using a sheet of BuildTak or PEI on your bed.
- Adjust the initial layer height and nozzle temperature settings in your slicing software to ensure proper adhesion.
If these suggestions don't work, there may be an issue with your printer's build surface or calibration. Feel free to reach out for more assistance.
I'll help you, one second.
thx
Have you tried glue sticks that are made for 3d printing?
no but I've heard they are basicly the same
Yeah they pretty much are, just marketing.
a genaric glue stick came with my printer but I have lost it
today I tried using an elmers glue stick and a wet sponge to make the serface more rough
If I use a raft I can make prints that don't fail but warp a lot
Even with a raft I’ve had some prints fail
is it a glass bed?
also what printer
nvm
Here's your options.
Print slower
I'm pretty sure you can install heated beds, idk about your printer though
make sure your bed is leveled, and you have a good Z offset
try buying spray adhesive. It's like $15-25 on amazon, but it's worth a shot.
Make sure your bed is clean, if you touch it a lot, your fingers can make it dirty.
- the finder has a bed leveling feature
- im printing my first layer at 10mm/s it would be the same price to sell my finder and buy an ender 3 as it would to get a bed upgrade
- I try very hard not to touch my print bed but I might be messing it up still
what about adhesive spray
I could try that but that would probably be a last resort for me
Maybe try lowering your z-offset or printing with your extruder hotter for the first layer.
What if you got a PEI bed? I used to never be able to print on glass beds even when heated. I got a PEI bed and omg it changed everything. first layers were perfect and had a nice texture to them.
my z offset is -0.05mm rn what would a good amount be?
rn I have this bed: https://a.co/d/78EqMdu
it is a sticker type thing on a glass bed
nothing we should be able to tell you. you just have to experiment. I recommend dropping it maybe 0.05mm till you find a sweetspot, then try adjusting in smaller ammounts
it really depends if it does not stick you can lower it a little but also making the extruder hotter for the first layer can help a lot.
I think what I will do is start by adjusting my z-offset. If that doesn't work I will print only with a raft and play around with my raft settings
before that I will also try making my brim settings ridiculously overkill

update: I did essentially every adhesion technique known to mankind and I was able to get almost perfect adhesion on this benchy
While I was able to get this to work without a raft I think in the future I’ll just use a raft for most of my prints
If I really want a smooth bottom I can sand it down later and I think this should help my warping issues
thx everyone for the advice
