#Z-Offset Will Not Save With Klipper
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with your z-offset settings not being saved during power off on your Ender 3. This can often happen when the settings are not being properly stored in the firmware or memory. To fix this issue, I recommend checking your firmware settings and ensuring that you save the z-offset correctly using the appropriate commands for your printer. If you're still encountering an error when trying to save the z-offset, you may need to consult the documentation for your specific printer model or reach out to the manufacturer for further assistance.
take the z offset out of the [bltouch] section and run Z_OFFSET_APPLY_PROBE before saving to save the new z offset
the saved z offset lives in the auto config at the bottom
If I take out the z_offset then it gives me an error
klipper log?
It tells me that z_offset has to be specified
why i want to see the log
How
machine tab> klippy log file on the right
do u see anything wrong?
not yet, is there 2 z_offsets in the printer.cfg? the log shows it starting as 0.0 then trying to save it as 2.2
No I don’t think so
send the printer.cfg itself, that way the logging wont mess with it
no printer.cfg? usualy klipper looks for that exact one, i guess elegoo might have changed that though
im not seeing anything wrong in that one though, im starting to blame their verion of klipper doing something unexpected
This is it it’s just renamed
usualy there should be a line like #*# <---------------------- SAVE_CONFIG ----------------------> and below that the z_offset should be saved, the .cfg looks fine, not sure how it got bad, was it able to save beforehand?
if so might just make a note of what you changed and try reverting
I’ve never been able to save it this is my first time on klipper
where did you get the config from? i would try resetting to that and see if you can save it before changing anything
Someone gave it to me because I have a ender 3 v2 Neo with a 4.2.7 board so I can’t use the default klipper presets
try with this, then copy some numbers/sections over once you confirm it works https://github.com/Klipper3d/klipper/blob/master/config/generic-creality-v4.2.7.cfg
better to have something that can save then get working than something that doesnt work
I did that before and it didn’t work, the printer would go out of bounds
then copy the bounds from your config to this one

Hello I still need help
You know the commented out area on bottom that tells you to not touch it
Touch it...
Where
Can I send you printer.cfg and can you see if theres anything wrong with it?
i forgot his name, but someone sent me this config and it worked
but this is the only issue i am haviing
@royal dove If I manually change it, then i get this error
@stoic island Do you know what I could do?
Klipper doesn't take negative numbers for z_offset
ah shit, so what should i do?
Remove the -
but wont that make my z-axis be higher up instead of lower down?
I need it to be -2.250
I wish it could just auto set it to that so i didnt have to input it every single time, thats all.
Again: Klipper does not take negative numbers, remove the -. It will work
A positive probe offset is not possible
it will work even though it still says 0 on the actual menu?
No clue why you not edit the file and save manually 🤷
I did do that, but if I input a positive number wont the printer print higher away from the buildplate instead of closer?
i need to nozzle to be lower down, not higher up
shall I write it a third time?
Okay ill input it and see how it goes
It works! sorry for being such a pain in the ass
