Hi guys, I'm quite new to 3D printing and I've had a bit of an experience with my printer (had it about 2 months). I couldn't get PLA to print what-so-ever but after manually leveling the build plate, refining my z-offset and doing some small calibrations I managed to get a decent first layer print.

My problem - The prints are coming out quite nice, though they are very, very weak. The only way I can explain it is that the layers are de-laminating from one-another. I will include all the specs I have printed at, speed, temp etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Luke

AI Help

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues with layer adhesion in your prints. This can be caused by a few factors such as incorrect temperature settings, inadequate cooling, or poor extrusion calibration.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Increase the printing temperature slightly within the recommended temperature range for your specific filament. Higher temperatures can improve adhesion between layers.

  2. Check your cooling fan settings - too much or too little cooling can affect layer adhesion. Make sure the fan is working properly and adjust the cooling settings accordingly.

  3. Ensure that your extruder is properly calibrated for accurate filament flow. Check your extrusion multiplier and adjust if necessary.

  4. Experiment with different print speeds to find the optimal speed for your filament and settings.

  5. Consider adding a brim or a raft to your prints to improve adhesion to the build plate and between layers.

I forgot to add, I am using OrcaSlicer.

From the AI suggestions above, I have done a temperature tower and 225-220 is optimal from what I could tell. I havent adjusted the fans but I will check that and see what is required to cool PLA+ effectively and not too quickly.

I'm not sure how to adjust my flow, I have lowered the max volumetric speed to 10 but will adjust this to 15 and try again, and I always use brim to print with PLA because I get warping if i dont do that

Some other things I adjusted are Pressure advance, I did this from the line test with orca calibration, it was only slightly changed from 0.031 to 0.028. I made adjustment to flow ratio - again from calibration tests, but it was a small adjustment from 0.92 to 0.96.

Increased flow ratio to 1.05 and I experience the same issue, maybe a little stronger but not substantially different
