I swapped to a new filament (inland pla+ high speed from regular inland pla), and I’m getting really weird underextrusion behavior. Prints were perfect before the swap. I’m using an ender 3 with cr touch and adaptive bed meshing in klipper.

The second pic is after replacing the nozzle, manual bed leveling, and recalibrating the probe. I’m printing at 210° on all layers, which seems like it should be fine? In the second picture, you can see the first half of the batch started out fine. The second half looks terrible. The second layer of the first half also started under extruding. I have no idea what could be causing this

It sounds like the issue may be related to the filament swap rather than the printer hardware. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the underextrusion:

  1. Check Filament Tension: Ensure that the filament path is smooth with no obstructions or tight turns that may cause the filament to bind.

  2. Filament Diameter: Verify that the new filament's diameter matches the slicer settings. Inland PLA+ High-Speed may have different characteristics compared to regular PLA, such as a different optimal diameter setting.

  3. Retraction Settings: Adjust retraction settings in your slicer software. Changes in filament composition may require different retraction distances or speeds.

  4. Hotend Temperature: Although 210°C is within the typical PLA printing range, some filaments may perform better at slightly higher or lower temperatures. Experimenting with a temperature tower test print can help determine the optimal temperature for the new filament.

I tried a temperature calibration tower, but it under extruded the entire time, even at 230° so it was useless. I stuck with 210° for this test because it usually works fine for pla
