Hey! I'm printing small models (pokemon) with the height of anywhere from 70mm to 200mm. I have pretty decent white filament that i dont think has much moisture in it at all.

I'm wondering if anyone has print profile tips to print models at a better quality with my 0.04mm nozzle. I think it may need to print slower, and i might need vibration dampening pads, just to begin. Anyone else have any tips I can quickly integrate to provide better quality to my models?

Main issue i have is im having to sand down the connection between my tree supports and the print quite a lot, and using craft glue to smooth out the surface, which is super time consuming.

For better quality prints with your 0.4mm nozzle, here are some tips you can try:

  1. Print Slower: Slowing down your print speed can help improve the details on your models, especially with a smaller nozzle size like yours.

  2. Adjust Layer Height: Experiment with decreasing your layer height to achieve finer details, but keep in mind that this can increase print time.

  3. Optimize Retraction Settings: Adjusting your retraction settings can help reduce stringing, which can improve the overall print quality.

  4. Fine-tune Temperature: Make sure you are printing at the correct temperature for your filament to ensure good layer adhesion and print quality.

  5. Calibrate Your Printer: Ensure that your printer is properly calibrated for accurate prints. This includes bed leveling, extruder calibration, and belt tensioning.

Regarding the tree supports, you could try adjusting your support settings in your slicer software. You can increase the support density and d...

what layer height are u running? 0.16? also 180 is the build limit so how do u implement a 200 height model? u just scale it down a bit or something? print in parts?
u can run the high quality presets. it lowers all the speeds. most important is outer wall. but if u need them printed fast. u can run the default optimal presets. and run 120 outer wall speeds. thats what i do. gyroid infill is the most reliable.

as for supports. i really like the tree slim support settings. i typically dont mess with the settings unless the preview looks like i need to change some things. they have 0 gap between the part but they come to a sharp point so that it breaks away quite easy and leave less scarring as it would normally with an interface support. the 0.35 XY distance gap between supports and models is sometimes too tight. i like to change it to 0.7 and theres abosutely no resistance of it sticking to a wall part of the model. only the top portion.

also, adaptive layer height. i use that a LOT. i run the default 50/50 setting. i click adaptive. then smooth. and from there, if there are tough overhangs. ill manually lower that portion to a lower layer height.
