#How to select a new main board?

Hey, it seems reasonable that I'll need to replace my main boards on the Anet ET4. Sadly I purchased 1 few years ago for $30, but now it seems to be around $80 or so.
Weird price, so I'll probably go with a more customized board, I know there are many options to choose from, SKR v1.4, SKR v3 mini, etc, etc...
How do I choose the right board that works for me?
The Anet ET4 is a simple single axis printer for all axes, so out of the box I don't need much, and with this frame I'm also not sure I need anything too crazy because it's not corexy or something.
I'll be using klipper with a raspberry pi 4 so I also don't really need a very powerful mcu.
Would love to get some suggestions. Thanks 🙂

It sounds like you have a good understanding of your printer's needs and your intended setup with Klipper and Raspberry Pi 4. Both the SKR v1.4 and SKR v3 mini are popular choices for 3D printer upgrades. Given your requirements, either board should work well for your Anet ET4.

Here are some factors to consider when choosing between the two boards:

  1. Budget: If cost is a concern, the SKR v3 mini may be a more affordable option compared to the SKR v1.4.
  2. Expansion: If you think you may want to add additional features or peripherals in the future, the SKR v1.4 offers more expansion options with its additional slots for stepper drivers and peripherals.
  3. Size: The SKR v3 mini is a compact board, which may be beneficial if space is limited in your printer.

Ultimately, both boards should work well for your setup, so you can choose based on your preferences and future expansion plans. Good luck with your upgrade!
